 Thank you so much for being the first person intelligent enough to include Techno in your poll. :fluffle:

I LOVE Techno and most other forms of electronic music. I make it, I'm getting my tunes published (wheeeee!) Don't play "Funky" in presence though, as I'm likely to murder the device delivering the cringeworthy cacophony. I also love (but to a lesser extent) classical, jazz and some kinds of Classic Rock (Led Zeppelin, Nirvana) and Stoner Rock/Metal like The Melvins and Kyuss

WP or Trad/SHARP/Red? Oi! is a pretty solid genre, I think European stuff tends to be a lot better then American stuff though. For some reason fastpaced Oi! sounds really awesome in German and Swedish, Svastika is a good band.

Anyway I voted Heavy Metal. Nothing better then Thrash Metal or NSBM if you ask me. :)

Interesting. I have the same reasons but different answer. Industrial, but since it wasn't there, I went for Techno. I do tend to stick to the more electronic side of Industrial. You have to admit, as a genre, it's pretty wide!
I like the slightly cheesy bouncy stuff (VNV et al), the harsher noise (Tarmvred, Noisex) and the harder techno (Panacea springs to mind). But I also have a soft spot for NIN and Ministry.

You should check out guys like Frank Kvitta or Chris Liebing. They make an insanely hard type of techno sometimes called Schranze Umek and Marco Bailey are another good choice, but not as brutal.

All of it, with a few execptions. But Trad above all else. A couple of Sharp bands are just as fucked as the nazis they claim to hate. Some of the Commie RASH shit really pisses me off. I'd much rather kick their asses and listen to some RAC. Most of it is good tho.

And then there's bollox like the utterly fascist Jesus Skins, who claim they're SHARPS... Only to them it's Religious prejudice. Not only is it wrong in the extreme, it's also the most hypocritical bullshit when half their songs is about how everyone but christians are monsters that'll burn in hell. And the other half is borderline nazi shit. Way to live by the 10 commandments... Bollox!
Great. Now I feel like kicking someone in the teeth. Way to spoil my own Saturday.

EDIT: No, I'm Anti Fascist, so I don't listen to WP shit. And I agree about the yankee Oi! It's a joke. The Bruisers are pretty good tho.

If I had 2 wishes the first would be for a hot little skinhead girl. The other would be for people to stop calling money machines like Greenday punk.

Greenday assraped their punk roots 10 years ago when they decided to fuck the DIY scene and cheat little naive wankers out of their parent's cash instead

Haha I've actually never heard any non WP Oi!...

Any way I'm more of a metal head but I'll sometimes listen to RAC if it's catchy. I like Legion of St George, No Remorse, Svastika, Section 88, and the People Haters (not sure if they're "Oi!" but 'Nazi Ska' and 'Gook Oi!' are pretty funny).

Kidding aside, I love the Undertones. Great band from Ireland.

Punk... no, I don't really know about punk. The thing that really bugs me is every new Pop-Punk band claiming that they're different and that they're hardcore, when really they're just soft... and every second Pop-Punk plays the same bloody songs just with different titles. I mean, the Used? Painful to listen to...

The White Stripes, The Hives, The Kings Of Leon, Franz Ferdinand... I like those kinds of bands and since "Indie" isn't a genre I'll just call it Alternative Rock and be done with it.

Ooh, can't forget Pink Floyd. Prog Rock.

Well, I didn’t vote because my particular favorite genre isn’t on it, and that would be Country. I like Modern Country, Classic Country and Blue Grass. Anything by the band Alabama I’m almost guaranteed to like. Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, George Strait and Garth Brooks are pretty much tied for my favorite vocalist. Yep, country is great music. After all, “Those songs about me and who I am. Songs about lovin’ and livin’ an’ good hearted women, family and God”. That’s from “Songs About Me”, sung by Trace Adkins and written by Ed Hill and Shaye Smith.

Know then, ya’ll can get back to discussing your Yankee music. :D

I stick to my guns and listen to some pure, asskicking Oi! From Europe.
Someone said he didn't know a lot of regular, non-WP Oi! So here's a couple of names:

ZBier
Cotzraiz

Who says only non-WP Oi! is regular? I think a few more people know about Skrewdriver then "Sprengsatz"...

Also I heard that 4 Skins was WP somewhere, although Oi! isn't really my strongpoint.

Odal Sieg from Chile and Nuremburg from Argentina are both pretty good RAC bands out of South America.

I say non-WP Oi! is the regular kind. But don't take my word for it. Do some research if you want. Most Skins aren't into the White Pride bullshit. And don't forget all the Punkers playing Oi! They aren't nazis either. The nazi crowd just get's all the attention. My guess is they're overcompensating for not having balls.

Sure Skrewdriver, Jewdriver and all the other idiots are famous. Famous for being daft. Not for their music. And sure, a lot of people have heard of them. The list I made was to help anyone interested in real Oi! The kind that is about freedom, respect and good times. Not some halfarsed WP crap blaming every ill of the working class on even poorer people with a different skin colour. Also, the list was of European Oi! Colera was just my silly attempt at offending an American or two ;)
The 4 Skins was never a WP band. If you look into it, you'll see they were one of the few bands who had the balls to go against the grain when the nazi's ruled the Oi! Scene in the UK back in the day. Gotta love them for that

But thanks for expanding on the list. I never heard either band, so I'll be sure to check them out :)

Umm you do know that Jewdriver is a gag band made up of Jews to make fun of Ian? They're about as far from RAC as you can get...

Anyway the number of WP/RAC bands out there nowadays is pretty staggering. Add to that RAC/Thrash metal crossover bands like Odin's Law and the growing Hatecore scence (although it's quite a distant relative of Oi!) and it's pretty obvious WP music isn't all that fringe anymore. As for not being known for their music, a lot of them are extremely talented.

I'm glad you don't consider rap to be music. Unless that's what R&B means. What does R&B mean?

R&B means rhythm and blues. That's what rock was called back in the 50's, before snazzy record company suits and DJs started calling it rock and roll becuase they thought R&B had too much of a black connotation since mostly black artists played it. Now R&B has been bastardized into that crap that's all over MTV.

i dont beleive no one said hardcore or the surrounding genres...

my favorite stuff would be metalcore (such as heaven shall burn, acacia strain, neaera, caliban...) hardcore (embrace today, all out war, american nightmare) and straight edge stuff (including Over My Dead Body, Minor Threat, Champion, Comeback Kid, Verse...)... and actually, some of those edge bands are punk... so I guess you could say I like punk. TRUE punk... you should make a punk catagory... but have it be like "true punk not that simple plan crap"... but i'll admit, blink 182 is a good band even if theyre not my style...

and indie is definately a genre.. what's modest mouse and franz ferdinand? i guess alternative could work. but no... indie...

Heavy metal's my favorite - the best subgenres definitely being progressive metal and power metal. I do also enjoy certain kinds of rock (generally the harder, less mainstream kinds), and classical music, and I have a soft spot for traditional Celtic music.

Rock, I guess, but nothing really that specific. I mean, my aural tastebuds tingle in response to certain things, certain textures, rhythms, melodies. I mean, I adore all Fugazi (not just the early stuff), but also stuff like Godspeed and Sigur Rós. I can happily listen to metal shows on the radio, but not too much, 'cos after half an hour or so it all starts to sound the same.. I go for the texture there, I guess.

Genres are misleading anyway, I'm trying not to refer to them, it's too easy to go into subgenres, then sub-subgenres, then there come disagreements and chin-scratching about who fits into what particular pigeonhole and why..

I was watching 120 Minutes on MTV2 the other day, very stoned, and everything sounded really really.. good! Never heard of any of the bands on there though. Saw the Arcade Fire on Jools Holland a couple of weeks ago, first listen, immediately hooked! (Also rather stoned at time..)

Perhaps being an accomplished musician oneself gives one a broader insight into music. Most of the time I can listen to pretty much any genre, and sit there and pick out exactly which instruments are playing what. The times when I don't know what the fuck is going on, that's when I get really interested..

Rambling.
Sorry.
