Now that Myrth has passed from the moderatoring coil, I figured a poll was required to see who the most likely candidate will be.

Note, this is not a poll to decide who will be the next "other" option mod, it's just a way of seeing who looks most likely.

The real mod chosen will emerge in time.

N.B sorry if your favorite mod isn't here, I could only fit in 7 mods and the none, same and other options.

Yet as I write this, Frisbeeteria is actually winning.

Frisbeeteria's scary. He's never admonished me, but I find his method of rebuking people to be very ominous and threatening. "Knock it off. That's flamebait, WHATEVER you protest." I wouldn't like to be on the receiving end.

How (and why) is Fris winning?

Cog and fris for me ... kat is awsome as well *the others I dont have much experience with in their "mod" capacity

Cog or Fris

Let's take the mods one by one:

Frisbeeteria -- very active and efficient Forum Mod, the local law enforcement officer. Sounds very much like a western sheriff or tough-guy police officer. A good mod, but I don't like him that much.

Melkor Unchained -- a good Game Mod, and an excellent debater, as well as being the first person I know of who condemned the Cult of TInk (besides me I mean).

Myrth -- A lot of his posts are funny, and he made the first post on Jolt, but has been trying to usurp my position for years. I don't support him. Also least rational of the mods.

Sirocco -- issue editor, good game mod, not as harsh as Fris (I've noticed). Also like his wiki entry.

Cogitation -- my vote may go this way. I like Cog's sense of humor and erudite posts. He's also displayed some thinking outside the rules.

Katganistan -- Don't know too much about her.

Salusa -- Hardly ever posts anymore, but I kind of like him anyway. If only because if I didn't I might get IP banned. ;)

Hack -- I think both a good mod and a good roleplayer. Also an interesting concept (a technocracy).

Rep Prod -- A hardworking Game Mod, also good at roleplaying and has edited some good issues.

Scolo -- Never seen'im work as a mod, but have seen a few roleplays and obviously has a good wiki entry (it was featured).

TJHairball, Menelmacar, GMC Military Arms, Tsaraine, Unfree People -- Who're they?

Because Fris is a bitch towards people who break the rules.

Generally to the hilarity of others.

Even though I voted for him/her, I'm also surprised to see him/her winning.

Cogitation, with Melkor and Sirocco as runners-up. Fris is obviously the hardest-working of mods (I suspect he's locked >50% of all lockable threads on NS), and as a mod he's excellent, but I don't like him much as a player.

It's funny. No-one seems to know who TJHairball, GMC, Tsar, Menelmacar, or Unfree People are. ;)

I guess you have to be a real old-timer to know who Menelmecar is. She(as I remember) used to run an elf nation I think. I think a war was started between Menelmecar and Melkor(my bad if I'm wrong) and that was huge because they were really big. Haven't seen anything from her in years. TJ Hairball was an old forum mod, don't know if he's still around. GMC Military Arms is a fogler too, he was also an RPer, as close as I can recall. Unfree People is a very familiar name, can't remember anything special. Tsaraine also seems familiar but same deal as with UP.

If so, how do I do that?Only a Moderator can alter the text of poll options or add additional options after it has been posted. However, I don't think a Moderator has the power to give a poll more than 10 options, in any event, and I don't see a way for a Mod to remove an existing option. Furthermore, this is a public poll and I can't alter the number of votes on a public poll and have the numbers stick, so the previous votes for Katganistan (who is also a fine Mod, by the way) would go to me, instead, and I can't remove votes from a poll (at least, I don't think I can).

You'd have to start a new topic with a new poll. Of course, we'd then have two topics on the same thing; I don't know what merging does to polls if both topics to be merged already have a poll, each, so the old topic would have to be locked, and referring everyone to a new topic would add more complication.

So, I agree with "Legless Pirates" ([i]especially given the rigamarole described above): there really isn't a need to mess around with the poll (it's not like our polls are ever important, anyway :p ) and I suggest that it be left as-is.

Katganistan's also one of my fave mods. Extra points for being Canadian.

You could start by taking out the spaces. I don't really care what goes, that is up to you. The rules simply state that it needs to be 8 lines or less.
