Thru my studies I have scratched together a pile of generalities that seem to guide society, ancient and modern.
Governments:
Republic (Democracy)- Power to middle class- Established by upper/middle class (mostly)- change comes leagally (all classes)
Feudalism (firmly established class system)- Power to upper class- established by upper class- change comes thru middle class
Dictatorship/Emipre- Power to leader- established by any class- change comes from revolution (upper class)
Ideals:
Economic:
Capitalism- Power to upper/middle class- divides society (upper classes move up, lower classes move down)
Socialism- Power to lower/lower middle class- consolidates society (upper classes move down, lower classes move up)
Social:
Conservative- power to upper class, lower middle class- Reinforces upperclass power, lower class tradition (relgion), and current economic ideology
Liberal- power to middle class- undermine upper class- oppose current economic ideology
Wants of Each Class:
Upper- to perserve and strengthen power, become leading class
Middle- to become upper class, liberty and social justice (conflicting ideals)
Lower- Stability
Misc:
Good societies pull from all ideals to reach an inoffensive middle ground.
Societies are not static things. They change.
I am ready to back up any of these claims with facts and further explainations. But it'd be too long if I wrote them all out before hand.
