Hey,
I'm looking for a quote that Alan Alda made in one of the episodes for my various reasons (sorry I don't know its title, but thats why I need you guys).

It's the episode when Radar is applying to some phoney writing school back in the states and he's asking everyone for anecdotes to write about.

I wanted to know the exact quote Peirce gives about him and the squirrel that gave him bad advice on his exam in medical school.

If anyone knows it thatd be excellent.

No idea, but M*A*S*H is on as we speak.

Sweet Jeebus, that's incredibly specific.

I've been a huge M*A*S*H fan since about age 12 (the Richard hooker book, Robert Altman movie and the TV series, though much less so for the last three seasons), and I know the episode you're referring to -- Radar semi-narrates the entire episode. To be able to recall one specific line of dialogue is going to take a even bigger geek than I -- I humbly suggest an online forum specifically devoted to the show. They've got to be out there.

Good luck.

I spent ten minutes on Google, IMDb, several quote sites and even the odd DVD sales site.

Nada.

That quote is obviously very obscure.

Well DUH! I can't believe I didn't think of this in my initial post -- you mentioned DVDs. The last season Fox released was season 5, so that means the episode you're talking about has been available on DVD for a while. Seek ye out a Blockbuster, buster! If it's important enough to query the NS General Forum, surely you can drop two bucks on the rental.

All right, the episode's name is The Most Unforgettable Characters from Season Five.

Quote:

Hawkeye: "This happened while I was in my first year of medical school. I was taking an exam in anatomy. It was really tough. They ask questions like "How many bones are there in the hand?" I was stymied. I kept saying to myself, "How many bones are there in the hand?" Then I heard this little voice that said "24." I looked around the room and there sitting on the window sill of the classroom was this little grey squirrel with a very intelligent face. And he pointed at his hand and said "24." So I wrote it down. And then after the exam I rushed over to the library to look it up. And would you believe it that stupid squirrel was wrong by four bones. I went looking all over the campus for him. I wanted to kill him. I finally found him over on a bench by the pysche department. "You were wrong!" I screamed at him. "There's 28 bones in the human hand!" "Oh," he said pointing at his hand, "I thought you meant a squirell's hand."
Radar: I don't think I can use that story.
Hawkeye: Want me to make one up?

I just finished reading the novel by Hooker, and having seen the book, the movie and the TV series, I still think the TV series is the best - Alan Alda is a great actor. But all M*A*S*H is good M*A*S*H as far as I'm concerned...
