Especially when it's unnecessary, like my situation...

When it could mean the diff. between graduating or not, it isn't.

I do summer school because I'm insanneeeee.

That's the only reason for trying to take precalc over the summer to skip out of a low level math class, and even worse, trying to take even more classes to get out of basic chem >. >

I used summer school to take Government (Between 11th and 12th grade), Pre-Algebra (between 8th and 9th Grade), Geometry (between 9th and 10th grade); mostly so that my school year time could be devoted to more important subjects (like AP Chem, AP Physics, AP Computer Science, AP Calculus, AP History)... I also only took 4 classes during my senior year (AP Computer Science B, AP Physics B, AP Calculus, and Band) [I Took 11th and 12th grade english in 11th grade... got both of them out of the way at the same time].

When I finished my JR year in high school I only lacked two credits to graduate. Let's see...two months of summer school or 9 months of regular school. Opted for the two months of summer school and graduated a month before my 17th birthday.

When I was in college I took classes in the summer too. They are usually much easier than regular semester classes and it gets you out of school quicker so that you can start making money quicker.

After my junior year, I actually had 24 credits (enough for the govenors diploma, and more than enough to merely "graduate").... But since I was DEP (Delayed Enlistment Program) in the Navy; and wasn't leaving till the next summer. I did 12th anyway; and just bulked up on more AP courses.

When you are a dipshit, fail classes, and have to go, I bet it sucks. But summer is a great time to blow through GE classes that you don't want to suffer through 16 weeks of.

The real question is, how stupid are the people in summer school.

Unless you go there by choice, in which case you're probably a socially retarded nerd. Enjoy, geeks.

For those there by choice to advance their academic timetables or by circumstances over which you had no control:

It's very useful and not even remotely stupid.

For those forced to go there through circumstances such as being an inveterate procrastinator or too cool to study:

Summer school is as stupid as you are.

Summer school allowed me to take the classes that pissed me off so I wouldnt have to deal with it throughout the year
