I really like this online game, and I am contemplating joining the pay-for members world. Anybody else who plays this game, is it worth spending 5$ a month?

Why not. Go for it if you want.
I play it sometimes (True Atheist, by the way. Say hi to me) and find it satisfactory. If you find it unsatisfactory, don't bother. If you find it limiting, go for it.

I played the game when it was still at Jagex.
I got up to level 90ish and then got bored.

It still is jagex, that's what is at the top of my screen. BTW i am trivial1. What did you find so boring, I want to make a wise investment?

i used to play it too. if your pc isnt high end enough for any of today's mmorpgs (no offense intended), or for any of the free mmorpgs that dont require a single cent regardless, then go for it. runescape's graphics pales in comparison to many of the free mmorpgs today. examples are http://www.roseon.com/ , http://www.maplestory.com/ , http://www.knight-online.com.my/ . among others, of course, just go to www.mmorpg.com or any of those various game rating/ranking sites.
its all regarding 'fun', since it's the only reason we play games, right? if you find going members fun, don't let anyone stop you. try it out for a month, then go for a year if you are sure about it. and the like, and whatnot.
[ps] if the posting of game links is considered 'inappropiate attempt to advertise' then by all means, remove em. some other forum banned me for it

Being a member is totally worth the $5 a month you get sooooooo many bonuses I'm a member and have been for 6 months.

I used to play RS... I joined a few months after the game came out and played on and off until about a year ago. I gave all my stuff to my friend and occasionally check it out to see how it's changed. My name was mcire and I think I was level 64 or something. My friends who still play it say that the members world is pretty cool, but I just got bored with the game in general.
