Reading an article in my local newspaper today, I confirmed something that I already knew. I spend to much time on the internet and it is probably a sympton of some of my psycholigical or pyschiatric problems. In many ways I am insecure, introverted, anti-social and stubborn. The internet is an outlet that I use to fuel my problems. I am seeking some pych help in the coming weeks and hopefully I can work out some things. If you are spend 30+ hours a week on the internet, this is obviously an obsession that you need to curb. 19 hours or more is considered unhealthy.

I spend way too much time on the internet, but if anything it has made me a more plesant and more intellectual person. It has also made me a better speller, typist, and writer.

*looks at the new thread title I made only minutes ago*

I want to run out onto the street and demand to be socked in the face. I can't really deny I have some type of problem.

I spend way too much time on the internet, but i'm a fit and healthy person .. mentally .. well, that's debatable hehe.

Well, I think the internet has been a great benefit to me in many ways, it helped form the guy I am now, has helped me learn what I can't at home.

It has really helped me make alot of good friends, and helped me become what I am!

Yay for the internet.

Oops. I choose the first option, but I thought it was daily...until I remember there aren't 30 hours in a day:)

So, it's more like...30.

I spend all the free time I have while I'm still in school on the internet, once school's out, it's instant, biking, swimming, lifting weights, playing XBox Live w/ friends......*dazes out* Oh yeah, too much time.

I've been on loads this past week, as I'm stuck at home with no money to my name. Usually I'd spend max 10 if I have an essay or something-there always is a something, on the rare occasions I don't have a huge workload I'd spend about 2 hours(I'm talking per week!)

I really don't spend all that much time on the internet. Maybe 16 hours a week.

But then again, I don't have to. I'm already nuttier than a fruitcake. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/aetsch/cheeky-smiley-005.gif

It isnt that clear cut. Its nice to have formulas that tell you when something is wrong, but in this case its rather useless. Whether it is a serious problem or not really depends on the reasons why you spend so much time online, and what you are doing with that time. Assuming you use the internet as a form of entertainment, you are MUCH better off spending 30+ hours on the internet interacting with people, engaging in conversations, and exercising your mind than shooting beams at your head from the little box in the living room that doesnt stimulate your mind at all (the television set).

I work nights, so on those days when I'm not working, I'll spend 6-8 hours on the computer. You'd be surprised what little there is to do at 4am alone in a dark house.

I am a network admin on top of a security consultant and part time web game designer

To "curb" this "obsession" means changing professions ... I think I will stay where I am lol

Does your internet use substitute for things or problems in RL. Is it an escape to deal with people not face to face? If you are a making a living off of the internet all the best, and I am jealous.
