So, uh...in about 23 minutes I guess it's possible that the California coast is going to be hit by a Tsunami. About 300 miles out there was a 7+earthquake and they don't know yet (huh?) if there is a tsunami, so the Emergency Broadcast System just warned me (I live on the coast. I'm pretty up hill, in case you're wondering why I'm posting and not running...)

So, uh, yeah...could be a wave...see you in 20 minutes...maybe...

yeah, no I'm not. 10 minutes.

It's too dark for me to go to the hill to watch. I'm just going to hang out and if it hits load the van with stuff and head down the hill and see if anyone needs anything.

If you are still around to read this: you crazy bugger. Take a nice vacation an hour or two's drive away from the coast, just in case.

CNN had a breaking news segment about 20 minutes ago. It was flashing as breaking news on MSNBC, CNN hasn't updated their web site to reflect it.

Thanks, Tuesday. Even Google didn't catch that. *gasp*

If I were either of you two in Cali near the coast, I'd get to a high spot, just to be sure.

They're saying that nothing much ahppened

Never mind, then.

lol... that's what they said in Asia, Colodia. ;)

I'm not in CA. I'm from there, though, and I have friends who felt the quake.

Any minute now...I haven't seen any extra, so I don't think it's gonna happen. I'm going to step outside just in case.

Tsunami, foonami. They're issuing a warning, which means they're covering their asses just in case it actually happens, it doesn't mean it's gonna happen. They issue fire and tornado warnings too that don't happen to include fires or tornadoes. I suppose that's a bit "boy who cried wolf" but to be honest, I am just not going to be some fool packing up and taking to the hills only to feel like an idiot when nothing happens. And hey if something does happen... well death is the great adventure, is it not...?

Who's packing? I'd be sitting here glued to the T.V.

At least they're issuing a damn warning, especially now that the aftershocks are occuring in the same area as the original quake.

TV is really worse for you than tsunamis.

I'm in Santa Cruz, I'm pretty sure there are a few who headed to the beach with thier boards the second the EBS came on.

It looks like a false alarm. Cool. I don't have to regret that I didn't go to the store earlier today.

I'd figure anything that hit that close to the coast forcing a tsunami would've hit pretty soon after the quake itself... not a few hours later.

Gah, Sunday I get an earthquake. Tuesday I get a tsunami warning. Tommorrow, I expect North Korea to declare war on California. JUST CALIFORNIA!

Yeah, it's set up in EDT, because its based on the East Coast.

Yep, living here in Cali I'm used to having to deal with adding or subtracting hours from times that the news tells me.

The EBS said 300 miles, but the MSNBC said 80-with 80 that shit shoulda happened a while ago. Doesn't really make sense. It's been 6 minutes since the ETA and nothin'...though apparently an earthquake in that area has caused one before, so they have call to be a little jumpy.

Anyway, it was kinda fun not to have the EBS be a test and yet still not have anyone get hurt...

No, that's Thursday. Tomorrow, part of California sinks into the ocean. Geez, tell your oracle to read the Daily Divination.

Yeah, I just noticed that... looking between the two.

The other earthquake was in the 60s, I believe, and it struck up near Alaska which produced a tsunami that hit Crescent City.

There's the cancellation...no Tsunami.

EDIT:I guess now I can examine why when I was in peril I told you all about it instead of, well anything else....
