The Benefits of Monarchy
Monarchy has several excellent benefits. These include:
1. Less waste of money due to lobbying, as the king has no worries about re-election.
2. No massive political campaigns.
3. Less socialism brought in to buy votes.
4. Fewer dumb regulations.
5. No judicial nominee fights.
6. Things happen faster, without the loads of partisanship and filibustering found in Republics.
7. A whole lot less politicians to pay.
8. Harder to bribe the super-rich king.
9. Fewer scandals, due to better cover-ups and less people.
10. Only one major policital figure, so you don't have to remember all those names and faces.
And many more!

Then, of course, you've got the drawbacks, such as freedom to rule as tyrannically as you like, as long as you keep the army happy enough to continue imposing martial law for you.
THen again, some people call that a plus... I sure don't though.
Not necessarily. The king has to deal with nobles all the time, who also have armies. And you can't fight them all at once.
Sounds perfect for us Americans. We'll take it!

America needs a king. I'll offer myself as the ruling party, that way there won't be any disputes, as I claimed first.
*heralding trumpets*All Americans bow before your (future) king!

You're King of America?
All right then.
I call King of the World.
Now bow before me!

No! I started the party!
Since when has that mattered in a monarchy? Usually, the guy who can best lead an army is the one who ends up being king.

I'm surprised no one's yet mentioned the issue of "successor."

Same thing in a lot of Republics.

I think it would be best if the king decides who will rule after he dies.

Actually, #4 & #9, depends on the King,
#5 depends if the King allows it,
#6 is actually not true at all: because everything happens vis-a-vis the throne, Monarchies traditionally move more SLOWLY than Republics.

Yep. His reign is set to end on 20 January 2009. :D

Monarchies kinda require you to believe that they have a Divine Right to rule. I aint religious, so... :) That, and I kinda like being able to choose my leaders.
Now, a Constitutional Monarchy...
What do you mean, "choose your leaders"? Even if you're a Republican, you probably thought someone else would have been better than Bush.

While I enjoy a good old fashioned trooping the colour as much as the next man, I am not convinced that monarchies are not a tad outdated.
After all, take the Windsors, they really are little more than a bunch of chavs with posh accents in a terribly expensive council house.
(At the very least, the British Empire and its Commonwealth could find some fresh lower middle class Germans once in a while).
