Sorry. I can blow up; just ask the last guy (girl) who critized my religion. But seriously, that wasn't cool. You know the rumors about "annoying Mormons" with the whole multiple wives thing and satan worshiping thing and can't-use-electronics were made by people who really don't like mormons, right? Yeah, they even made a religion about it. It's called ANTI-MORMON. Frankly, don't you think they get enough crap as it is? And the Jehova's Witness. They make better citizens than about anybody else. And they get crap, too!

Sure, i guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but "stopping these religions?" Buddy, hope you don't run into a Mormon or JW Missionary.

Yeah, anybody who replies can say, "Yeah, don't give people crap" or they can say "what if critizing people IS his/her religion?" Frankly, i don't care. I've gotten more crap than i can tell you, and anymore ain't gonna matter.

No, seriously. Don't be afraid to share your opinion. Just know your limits. I may have breached those limits....sorry. And if you are a strong Anti-JW or a strong Anti-Mormon (which is probably more popular), be respectful. You don't have to be a genius, JW, Mormon, or Jedi to know what those are.

I don't think I understand what your post is about....is it that you want people to bring their faults about JW or Mormons, or that you felt attacked in another thread, and you wanted a chance to defend yourself without the flames and such?

How does knocking on people's doors and trying to convert them make you a good citizen? Can anyone say religious freedom?

Yeah, after I saw it was closed so i couldn't reply i was a little ticked. Plus, if you understand what kind of crap i personally have had to deal with, you would understand. A lot of people don't, and that's ok because only a handful of religions are criticized a LOT. Yeah, everybody's got a different opinion and every religion is bound to get critizim from someone else, but a few get it from EVERYONE. I guess it brings forth confussion....sorry.

I think the open critiziation of a religion from an outside view is a bit un-needed. I have been known to speak against doctrines and such, but from my point of view they aren't the religion, just a faction within trying to change eveyone into their point of view.

I've never had any problems with the JWs or Mormons. I've tried to look for them to stir up some debate, but it seems its always other people that get to see them. I don't honestly know what they do or do not believe in, except for the fragments I've read from quizzes I've taken or from beliefnet.

I don't know if I trust the whole revelation to John Smith, because it seems everywhere else in the Bibles, when G-d sends a message, its always kept. Stones where kept around to show to people, and such. Not written on texts, then hidden away so no one can see it.

I'd have to read through their texts to give a good opinion of them though.

Heck with taunting/scaring Jehova's Witnesses. I just like watching bigots try and process these people who actually believe whatever they're preaching.

I'm a deist so most of my religious views spawn from logic (in other words, things like "well, SOMETHING made us, so it stands to reason there's a god...").

It's almost as funny to watch somebody--including normal, sane, open-minded people--'s expression slowly (or quickly, depending on the person) changing into one of total confusion when I say the words "logic" and "religious views" in the same sentence.

If you run into a JW preacher, he won't do squat, because JW are THE pacifits. Other than that I don't dislike Mormons or JW or anything, but I have heard bad things about Mormons :mad:

My friend got rid of jehovah's easily enough.

One day they come to her door, she informs them she's a satanist and slams the door.

The next week they come back to ask her about her religion, she had been chopping veggies in the kitchen and didn't put down the knife when she went to answer the door... she told them they had interrupted a sacrifice and told them to come back another time. They never came back.


I don't see how jehovah's witnesses are better citizens than anyone else, really. I got yelled at by one for saying it would be nice to have opposable big toes.



And also, the "worst religion" thread was mostly bashing scientology and branches of mormonism that aren't even accepted by mainstream mormons.

I don't have anything against Mormons. As far as I know they're just another peaceful religion.

It's the same for JW's. The only thing I don't like about them is when they come to my door. I've got my own religion, and I'm not going to convert over a 5 minute chat and a cheap pamplet.

Other than that, it's all good.

My father is a pastor at a lutheran church and we live in a parcenage (sp?) and they still walk up to our door and try to convert us.

If I talk to them, I try to do a little converting myself. Haven't been to succesful. Needless to say, neither have they at converting anyone in my family.

The problem is that many people get their information from various religions from rumour, heresay, and wakkos who make the news. :)

Mormons especially have a lot of rumors, though few people try to ask US what we believe, they go to other sources :) As if we wouldn't know what we believe :)

The same goes for people who bring up how Catholics are evil because of the Inquisition or the Conquest. That was the past. I know a LOT of Catholics who are very good people.

The JWs, though very stubborn, are on the whole trying to be good people to varying degrees of success.

I think to be able to discuss any group of people we actually have to find out about them before we start spreading gossip.

There is absoulutly nothing wrong with catholics in my eyes, although if they allowed their preachers to marry, they might not have all of these child molestation cases to deal with.

The deal with the inquisition is that the Catholic curch used it to destroy much oposition (ex. protestants)

During the 1500's the Catholic Church also was extremly wealthy and greedy. They sold "indulgences" to pay for peoples sins.

This is how the Lutheran religion was created. Martin Luther was tired of the curroption of the Catholic church and so were many peasants. THey broke off from the Catholic church, and before you now it, Lutheranism was born.
