How long is your course, what options/credits/modules can you take and where are you studying?

Anyone doiing masters in International Relations? Any good?

I've just finished year2 of a joint BA in history and politics, only 1 year left

I am seriously considering it as a post graduate course. To start in 18 months or so.

I am getting a Ph.D. in political science.

Of course, I am also not entirely convinced it is a "science," but as with most things it depends on how you want to define the term.

Anyway, I plan to teach... which is pretty decent, once you figure out that you can get the school to pay for all sorts of conference trips. Last year my girlfriend and I went to Hawaii for a week... this year San Diego. We only had to pay for entertainment. ;)

What, if not masters, do you take then? Here, people do masters as a norm. I have a masters of pol sci and contemporary history. Working on my doctorate... and working... and working...

I'm looking to get lucky. Up until this june, I was being an assistant in the U. After 2 years of teaching "introduction to" courses, I'm a former assistant.

I have to say NS is the most hilarious site though. You can just sit and wait, and see the most miraculous views.

I have a BS in Poli Sci. I concentrated mostly on political philosophy and IR. The poll has a problem BTW - no option for PS students who don't belive it's a science. ;)

got the poli sci minor to go along with my bs in philosophy. and i'd have to say that the interesting parts of it don't make for much of a science. about on the same level as economics really.

Got me degree in Pol Sci (As we call it in Aus) degree a few years ago, thought about doing it at a post grad level but opted for Anthropology instead which still contains some elements of Pol Sci.

The two best units I did for it was one called Politics in Literature and Film and Race and Ethnic Politics.

Yep.

One of my favorite instructors taught part time and worked a day job as a political risk analyst for the Houston office of an oil consulting firm, had a great story. A software salesman came by to visit the economic analyst in the next office not long after Mr. H. had started. He poked his head in to say hi to the new guy. In the conversation, it came up that the software modelers could do economic forecasts pretty accurately, but all attempts at a software model for IR had been busts.

Yeah、 I liked the intro anthro classes I had (cultural, physical, and archaology). Too bad the majority of the faculty were hard core Marxists. The geography department was the same way. Otherwise, I might well have persued one of those two as a minor instead of history.
