Looks like Bush not only wants to strengthen the Patriot Act, but make it permanent. Big Brother, anyone?

The publication has the word 'Christian' in the title, so I'm not even going to bother reading it. :p

That's sad. I pity you. But hey, whatever you wanna do.

I don't see what the big fucking deal is.

I can already see it:

"In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the United States will be reorganized into the first American Empire, for a safe and secure society"

Except instead of a real emperor like Palpatine, we'll be stuck with Bush II for a few decades...

~Czardas, Supreme Ruler of the UniverseSome things are self-explanatory. Read the article and post your opinion. I posted a link once and only added the word 'discuss'. That ain't no spamming.

The problem is that you post articles in their entirety without adding any comments of your own or any analysis of your own. This qualifies as spam. ...or possibly even trolling (which is posting controversial material merely to ruffle feathers and make people mad).

Don't just copy-and-paste. State if you agree or disagree with the article. Describe why you agree or disagree. This is a political discussion forum; discuss any articles that you post or link to. Don't just reproduce them verbatim.

What is the patriot act?

A stunning disappointment. I was hoping for some good ol' Stalinesque purges or some shit.

A little disturbing, to say the least. Yet, I have to agree with an article I read a few months back about the kind of info the patriot act allows someone to gather. All of us could gather that same info with just a little effort: D.L info, where we live, work, S.S numbers, Credit card numbers.....I mean, just think about all the personal info available in your trash.

The scary stuff I think is things like write your own subpoena, monitoring mail, and the secrecy that surrounds all of this. Today when you leave the FBI could come into your house, search your room and computer, leave, and not tell you about it. The news had a story about a small town book club that had an undercover agent infiltrate it because they were discussing political freedom and the patriot act.

For me the biggest problem is "who decides"? Who gets to decide what a terrorism cause is that should be investigated? And how far should paranoia be allowed to run before it runs over those lovely rights we all like to talk about?
