There are several interesting holiday....
1) Decemberween (Foolish Homestar. Decemberween is not about getting people presents. It's about giving people GOOD PRESENTS! GOOD PRESENTS!
2) Festivus (Festivus for the Rest of us!)
3) Take-your-daughter-to-work-day (And if your in espionage? Sorry, daughter. I'll take you to work, but then I'm afraid I'm going to have to kill you.
Any other ones? Or holiday suggestions? I'm sure "Give-me-money day" would catch on real quick.

I've always thought the day's like secretary's day and valentine's day were strange because they were blatantly created by companies to increase profits in the "down" season, yet people go nuts over them anyway...what can I say, good marketing=good profits (just look at DeBeers)

One of my faves is the nameless national holiday on May 4th. May 3rd is Constitution Day, and May 5th is Childrens Day (the recent PC name for what was formerly known as Boy's Day - Girl's Day is still called just that. :()
The only reason for this holiday is that it falls right between two national holidays. The official title is, AFAIK, "adjoining holiday between the two holidays".
"Adult Day", aka "Comning-of-age Day" and Setsubun are other favorite holidays. On Coming-of-age Day, most people who've turned 20 dress up and go down to city hall to get speechified. It's nice because lottsa cuties can be seen around town in their kimono (which is a rare sight these days).
Setsubun (the traditional first day of spring by the lunar calendar, but now fixed on Feb. 2nd) is fun because it involves wearing masks. throwing bveans around, and lots of shouting.
