Lindsay Lohan too big for Disney!

This isn't an article, but more of a summary, by the way.

Lindsay Lohan is, as you may or may not know, starring in Herbie: Fully Loaded. And of course, the movie is distributed by Disney. Disney is, of course, a respectable institution with high standards. So what does Disney do?

Disney has apparently digitally reduced in size Miss Lohan's breasts on film because it's a family movie!

I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen, but that's an absolute crock of male bovine droppings. If you feel as outraged as I do... Join the petition to save Lindsay Lohan's breasts! That came out wrong.

Indeed. I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist about this until I've seen all the details.

Dammit, I'm not going to get my hackles up over this matter until I've seen Lindsay Lohan's breasts! As much as I dislike the idea of breast censorship, you aren't going to get a rise out of me until I've seen the material evidence.

*sigh* I'm all out of innuendo...

I roleplay a fair amount, though only a small percentage of it is on the Jolt boards. I prefer the regional offsite forums for RPing in most cases, but I have done a few RPs here (with a couple of different accounts). Just look at the links in my sig.

Careful. It could easily be argued validly that RPs are a waste of bandwidth as well. The real difference is that RPs are actually what NS is all about, and this stuff is not.

I only come here to talk shite. I nurture my NS nations (in different ways for each ofcourse) but I will never RP them on any boards. It just doesn't rock my boat.

Anyways, I thought General was the place to talk shite in all ways shapes and forms. But I might be mistaken

I've updated the first post with two pics, one a blurry still from the movie, courtesy of IMDB and one of her in a bikini which demonstratably ah... I'll leave the descriptions to someone else.

And Sino, I consider myself an RPer. Not of your calibre, mind you, but this is one of the 0.0000001% of my posts that are in General. Everything else is RP or OOCly related to an RP. It's just that this thing has me amused and annoyed as all hell. http://home.iprimus.com.au/quincyw/dwhuh.gif

Sdaeriji
12-06-2005, 22:14
In all likelihood the magazine pictures you see where she has a massive chest are edited to make her more well-endowed, and obviously in children's movies they're going to edit to downplay her chest, so in reality we're never really seeing the true size of her breasts.

That being said, how in the world is this a big deal? I've seen enough pictures of her tits; who cares if they've been reduced for a movie most of the people complaining would never even go see. The internet is full of porn.

I signed the damn petition. I find digital breast reduction offensive. The media should encourage the view that all human forms are beautiful, not suddenly decide that large breasts are "non-family friendly".

The problem is how the media filters the information. NS General has been ranting for years about how apparently Bush lied (and I do not want a rehash of that debate in this thread, please!) and all that.

While this is a Disney film, the principle holds if they start changing the information that we get fed, how else are we meant to know the truth about the world? We often hear these stories about politicians lying, but was it really the media just misquoting out of context? The media and the information and entertainment industries should stop distorting the truth and tell the truth for once.

And once again, please do not bring up Bush and Iraq in this discussion!

Disney spent a million dollars to edit the movie (digital reduction and digital clothing to provide more cover) because mothers in test audiences complained about Lohan's "assets." I'm sure that million dollars could have fed a decent amount of starving children.

I'm pretty sure that the work it would take to digitally edit (and seemlessly, at that) Lohan's breasts throughout every frame of every scene of that movie would be logistically infeasible. The person who said it would cost a million dollars is way off base. It would likely cost more than doing the animation for an entire Pixar movie.

There's no way this is a real story.

That being said, I would love to do a comparison just to make sure. ;)

HAHAHAAHAHAHAHA.

This is obviously ridiculous. Besides, it'd make more sense to reduce her breasts for an adult film, as that would take the men's attention away from the dialogue.

I think Lindsay Lohan is a delicious little piece of pie. I'm still split on the issue of whether her boobs are, er, organic or modified, but it doesn't really matter anymore given the great boobjobs that they do nowadays.
Squirrel Nuts
16-06-2005, 22:11
Whether or not it's true this makes me laugh. If her breasts do appear smaller in Herbie that could be due to a number of things. How clothes fit and what kind of bra a girl is wearing can make a big difference. When she's doing magazine shoots and such she's going to want to look "hot"(or at least the magazine will want her to) and will therefore wear something to accentuate the breasts while in a children's movie she won't be trying to look overly sexy nor will the company want her to.
Zincite
16-06-2005, 22:21
This is ridiculous. I signed, I don't care if it's true or not because I used my address that already gets 50 spams a day and if it isn't true it won't do anything. But seriously. That's stupid - the idea of being family friendly is not to implant sexual ideas in the kiddies' minds, right? Well guess what - by reducing boob size, you're implanting the idea that large breasts are inherently sexual, which they're not, and if you didn't, the kids would never think of it by themselves. I know because I watched Titanic when I was 9 and it's only now, six years later, that I have mentally reviewed and thought "you know, that was kinda hot."
Zincite
16-06-2005, 22:24
OH YEAH and another thing, the petition really isn't going to be taken seriously at all in fact it will probably be a detriment, because so many idiotic males have signed saying "yeah I wanna stare at her tits during the movie". I suppose I am somewhat losing my faith in the male gender. In fact, I think anyone who signed that petition in that manner ought to be forced to watch a long, erotic movie with a girl who is indeed a girl, but has very small breasts that are covered at all times. Perhaps gay film starring a pre-op male transsexual...

Herbie is a remake of Herbie The Lovebug. Chitty-Chitty Bang-bang was a different franchise.

I must admit, I was wrong. I said this was a ridiculous rumor that couldn't possibly be true: It is though.

They ACTUALLY DID digitally edit Lohan's breast-size. But not because of concerned mothers. The reason was that the MPAA refused to give the movie a G rating if they did not.

You've got to understand why I didn't believe this: Namely because it is absolutely retarded.
Flatearth
17-06-2005, 02:23
Here's an article on the subject, I guess it did have something to do with concerned mothers, but Entertainment Weekly says it had more to do with MPAA:

"Teen actress Lindsay Lohan's breasts have been digitally reduced for forthcoming Disney film Herbie: Fully Loaded, to avoid offending family audiences.

Test screenings for the new movie, the fourth sequel to the 1968 film The Love Bug about a Volkswagen Beetle car with a mind of its own, indicated that some parents felt Lohan's character Maggie Peyton was too raunchy for a children's film.

Disney technicians were forced to plough through numerous scenes - especially those showing the busty actress jumping up and down at a motor racing track, reducing her breasts by two cup sizes and raising revealing necklines on her T-shirts.

Amused at her digital bosom reduction, Lohan says, "I don't know how Renee Zellweger kept swelling and shrinking for Bridget Jones. It's no fun.

"Bring on the computer guys."

Actually, not really. Yes, by describing a story like this to kids you might be "implanting the idea that large breasts are inherently sexual," but not by just doing it in the movie. Why? 99.999% of the kids who watch won't even notice. They didn't know or care what size Lindsay Lohan's breasts were before, so why should they notice that they're smaller now? I don't think it makes the movie any more family-friendly, but I don't think it's teaching kids that breasts are sexual either.

If I said, "Thank god she lost all that weight; she looked like a fat pig before. What a ugly whale of a slut," I'd get attacked (and rightly so). So why is it okay to insult someone for being thin? Regardless of whether you think she looked better before or after her weight loss, it's her friggin' body, not anyone else's.
