If you pray/meditate ....

I have a couple of very dear friends named Glen and Barbie. Barbie is Glen's wife and is one of the kindest and gentelest women I have ever met. She is dying of cancer and is suffering terribly.

If you can find it in your heart to pray/meditate for her, and for him as well, please do so. I have spent most of the morning weeping for them and would deeply, deeply appreciate your kind thoughts, intentional meditations and/or prayers.

That's sad to hear. Is she beyond help? In that case I can only hope that she passes on mercifully and quickly.

She has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The doctors say there are some, largely experimental, treatments they can try, but they don't hold out much hope.

I you would, just meditate/pray that the universe's ( or God's, if you believe that way ) plan for her existence be completed. I would love to see her have a few more good years, but I don't want her to suffer. This is one of those people who, when they suffer, I think "damn, why couldn't it be some total asshole like me?" :(

I don't pray, but I will hope that she manages to carry on a meaningful life for a few years relatively painlessly. Though, chin up, Eu. She might go into remission; stranger things have happened.

I know. Thank you for the kind thoughts. It's been scientifically proven that intentional meditation, kind thoughts and hopes, and prayer can actually speed healing. I'm hoping this is what will happen for Barbie. She really is a great person.

/me comments without humor or amusement: "Strange, I didn't realize that anyone would actually name their daughter 'Barbie'."

...

Dear Lord, please watch over Barbie and Glen. Grant that Barbie may recover from the cancer that afflicts her and live the remainder of her life in reasonably good health. However, if it be Your will to call her into your heavenly kingdom, then grant that she will pass from this world and into Your loving embrace with as little pain and suffering as possible. Also grant that Glen will be comforted in his sorrow and know that Barbie will be forever at peace in Your holy presence. We trust in You, Lord, for You are God, forever and ever. Amen.

How utterly kind, Cog! Thank you so much! :fluffle:

Actually, "Barbie" is just Glen's name for her. Her real name is Barbara. I started calling her that ( with Glen's permission! ) because it use to flatter/embarass her that I flirted with her ( kinda, sorta ). :D

I hope that she is healed; or at least, feels reasonably well for the rest of her time here.

Aye, its always sad when something like this happens. A few years ago one of my mothers friends died of some kind of cancer.
The ironic part is that she entered the last phase right when the deliberations over assisted suicide started in Congress, and they ended after she died. She had wanted to die if she entered a coma, its too bad.
