the norse kinda do that though, gods fight and world gets consumed in flames from flaming weapon that destroyes it all, gods and mortals alike.

and then there is the pagan way, Blessed be the world never ends, it will become a world of peace where the goddess walks with us, yay!

or the satanists, Lord Satan will consume the earth in flames and we will be reborn as avatars of his design, and we will whip the worthless believers in truth and love with out cat o' nine tells, lord satan rise up!!!! !--!

Then thank the Goddess for the work that was done, and celebrate with dionoysis with wine a drinks. Then on Samhain celebrate your ancestors that gave you the insight to be able to do all that.

Not necessarily. One theory states that when the sun exits main sequence (Which its in now) and becomes a red giant. it's gravitational influence will be significantly less than it is at present. The earth will then move to a larger orbit and quite possibly survive the sun's inflationary period. that doesn't apply however to mercury or venus as they will be engulfed by the sun.

But then again all bets are off when the sun cools down and turns into a white dwarf!! :D
