Um... question, not being Australian, but I thought Australia only HAD one capital. So is this an historical reference, a question about local capitals, or a poke at non-geography knowing folks who think it's either Sydney or Melbourne

That's why I was asking. I've managed to make a number of Aussie friends in Japan and I have noted that, in general, their sense of humor tends to be even quirkier than Nevadan's. So I thought it would be safer to ask and not stick my foot in my mouth... again. ;)

Yeah well this "greatest bunch of wankers" is the most successful team in the history of... well... an inherently pointless sport.

I can't stick to supporting one team. First it was Adelaide (7 years ago), then Brisbane (5 years ago), then Fremantle (6 months ago), now there's Collingwood (1 month ago).

I think I'll just stop supporting any of them.

Back on topic, I live in Adelaide, so I'll say Sydney.

You've got to be kidding. I lived in Perth for 4 years when I was young. It's an awesome place. Melbourne, "the world's most livable city" is scummy by comparison, and has crappy weather. Perth rocks.

Looks like Sydney and Melbourne are neck and neck closely followed by Cape Town!! Having lived in Syd and Melb I am torn. Love them both. But then I liked Brisbane too but the best is Noosa, and then the crem-de-la-crem is the Noosa Hinterland.

Not having visited let alone lived in Perth or Darwin I would hate to do them injustice because tell you the truth maaate I think I would lurve both those places. Adelaide is the only place (or maybe Cape Town) that does not raise any response in my system.

What's wrong with it? It's great to drink and great to clean your car engine, and if you mix it with some egg white it's good for your hair. You can make beer cake, beer batter and even beer marinade with it. It's brilliant stuff. You can even use it to clean metals.

Personally I think most Aussie beers are pretty average anyway (VB, XXXX, Tooheys etc included). That said, it doesn't stop me drinking it. :p

15 my arse! I grew up in SA, winters are much colder than that. It gets colder than that in Brisbane. Last time I was in Adelaide it was november, and everyone was still wearing jumpers in the mornings.

The summers are bad, I'll give you that. I can remember a 44 degree day.

I remember stayin up drinking endless glasses of water during one night in Sydney. it was during a heat wave. trust me melbourne is boring. Perth, adelade and darwin too hot. Canberra too cold. Sydney perfect.
