What is your opinion about freedom of information, should everyone have access to every piece of information, or should some be held back and classified?

Everybody should have access to every piece of information. Otherwise it is too easy to manipulate people by just giving them the pieces of information that the person in charge of distributing information considers correct and that fits his/her ideas and views. However, I know that this is an utopian idea, it wouldn't stand a chance in the real world.
Withholding information is normally done to protect people and projects. In some cases justified, in many cases plain psychotic.

I don't think we should all have access to every single military secret currently necessary for a country's defense; nor do I think we all need to have access to each other's personal information. But yes, I do think that most things should be out in the open.
