Why do so many people hate Korn (band)? (don't say they suck.
Ya'll want a single?

Music preference being a subjective matter, 'they suck' is as viable an option as anything else. Especially if you 'hate' them.

Doesn't make for good posts, though.

Personally, I'm indifferent to their music. There is way better stuff out there and way worse.

I liked, and actually own, their first album. It was alright. Not a fan of the however many other albums they've put out since.

I really liked the first and second albums. The third was barely passable. Everything after that is drudgery.

I'm actually looking forward to hearing Head's new heavy Christian band.

THEY SUCK!

(Note: That doesn't mean someone has bad taste in music because they like bands I think suck. It just sounds different to them.)

Do you get partial credit for being a rocker or are you a :headbang: rapper :gundge: ?

Because we all know that music divides cleanly between Rockers and Rappers. :D

There's no getting around that.

I'm mostly into punk, ska, indie, and increasingly against my will, emo. So probably partial credit.

Aye.

In fact, wasn't Korn one of the first bands to get that rap/rock fusion style popular?

As for the other, it's really not my fault. There are two girls that directly responsible...neither here nor there :D.

emo.
I'll never "get" emo. I've searched for songs from "emo" bands all over the net and everything I've heard sounds like a REALLY bad, mopey, whiney cross between goth and Nirvana. It's like Kurt Cobain and Siouxsie Sioux had a really depressed love child with no talent and even less fashion sense. *insert barfing smiley here*

Drummer? Are you sure you aren't referring to their ex-GUITARIST, Head, that went Christian? Also, I don't consider that "selling out". He just took a different path.

That's true of most emo bands. However, many of them overlap stylistically with certain punk conventions that I like. Again, however, recent interests in emo have been beyond my own volition.

Okay, as you can tell, I'm pagan, but yeah I could see breaking away to go do what I believe in.

Korn's older stuff was pretty good. I was a pretty big fan for awhile, then grew out of it quite a few years ago. Sometime shortly after that one album with the 'Children of the Korn' thing they had going for 'em, with that Freak on a Leash song. Can't remember the album name for the life of me.

The band itself really isn't all that talented. They can write music relatively well though, even if their music lacks in the technical department. Really, I can listen to them without a grimace - but really, there is better stuff out there.

Much better.

Follow the Leader
Some stuff is all right, but it's too down-beat for me
You're right, there is a lot of better stuff out there, and they are not that good.
They had an concert out here (Australia) with Fear Factory and Static X that was really good, except only about a quarter of the audience knew who Fear Factory were.

I think it's the stupid Я that bothers me the most. Are they trying to look Russian? I should start a band called Яice, actually.

Probably because they make Limp Bizkit look good, and Limp Bizkit is the second worst band of all time...so that should tell you where Korn is.

Although I think Korn is far superior to LB, Korn still sucks.
Truth.....they both walk all over ICP.

The worst group ever.

i have 3 of their albums - KoRn, Life Is Peachy, and, the best, Issues - and they all rock.
its all good, vibrant, exciting music to me, and the lyrics really strike a chord with me (especially Issues)

why do other people think they suck? because they're stuck in their own narrow definitions of their favourite genre, and korn is pretty much outside what most people would class as metal, especially for all the praise and popularity they got. personally i think their music is pretty damn good, and they rejuvinated (mainstream) metal after the death of grunge, and spawned, for good or ill, "nu-metal", alongside other great bands like the deftones.
however most numetal that rips these, and other, pioneering bands off just sound the same and lead me to not like the rest of the numetal genre... just the early good stuff
