Haha! You going to? I bet it's a con. Some spammer company wants people to send them emails so they know they're gonna get existing email addresses. That's what I'd do.

subject Re: Woo!!! Grammer man!
memo Dear Illiterate,

It is "Grammar" and I am no man, I am a Phantom.
"soem" is not a word in any dictionary - i believe you
mean "some", and at least put some commas in there
with "Spam Spam Spam" and get rid of the caps, it is
not clever and it is not funny.

I shall be watching your career with interest.

Silly, silly grammar phantom. Does it not know of periods? The sentence structure of TGP is very convoluted. Furthermore it uses 'and' after a comma!!! Not a really proficient Grammar Phantom if you ask me.

MemoI don't want a cookie. You forgot the full-stop after

please, they are giving me a headache. Are you going

And that's what I wrote. You would've thought he/she/it would have replied to that wouldn't you? To prtect it's/her/his honour? ;) And if I have to be so patient, why do you keep getting these emails from him/her/it? You're getting these 'replies' so close together, you must be making them up! HA!

I have been living my life in a town in Wales, UK and I have been noticing daily that the American influence on British spelling and grammar has been increasing by the minute. This cannot go on. Seeing "color" without the proper 'u' is heartbreaking, and seeing notices that suggest that you refuse to do what the notice is, in theory, telling you to do is infuriating - "Please take your cutlery and refuse to put it on the carousel" (or something similar). This cannot go on, it is ridiculous. Now, my grammar may not be perfect and my spelling is far from it, but on notices that are for public display, messages on message boards, emails sent to someone you don't know I at least attempt to get it right, and check with people who know what they are talking about - so this is what I'm here for. I want people to give other people the basic courtesy of getting their spelling and grammar correct.

is his explanation

Well, living in the US, 'color' IS proper. I get anal about grammar and spelling sometimes, however, I make my share of mistakes. Especially since I have not had the need to write anything important for years. I don't like the there/their/they're mishaps, and such.

As a matter of fact, there is a thread about that somewhere...

Anyhoo... this dude is just AMAZINGLY anal about BRITISH grammar.

Well, it is the English language. Therefore you might reason that English - and hence most British - grammar be the version to run from.

It is, however, a very silly thing to get worked up about.

Not necessarily...think about it - in many languages it is the difference between 'mine' and 'your' that starts wars, and in fact, in the case of the latest GULF war, it was the case of the difference between 'may' and 'do' have WMD. I completely respect this "phantom" character if he DOES really exist and is not a construction of Moleland's imagination. But as yet, I still have had no reply from my email to him.

He should have said 'Fewer full stops' in his e-mail to Moleland.
Quick, e-mail him back and point out his grammatical mistakes! That should really piss him off...

Huzzah for British grammar and spelling.
