Who was all-around the better American, John F. Kennedy, or Martin Luther King Jr.?
Just looking to spark a discussion.
It's a hard call... both martyers, both fighting for civil rights and peace, both men who swept in a new era...

Neither one, I hate both of them with a passion. I much prefer James Earl Ray

That is what I said is it not? Maybe you need to look into the man some more, like look into the FBI reports on him and how he spent his free time and other parts of his life.

Well, Martin Luther King didn't do anything of any importance.
Martin Luther King Jr. on the other hand led a civil revolt and won(finally) civil liberty for all Americans. Unfortunately, many are misguided these days, and his dreams of "Equality for all" are no longer being strived for. Instead, inequality, and better treatment for those who were "oppressed"* is what's being brought about this days. The words of MLK Jr. have lost their meaning.
*Note-by "oppressed" I am referring to those people who use the fact that their ancestors were oppressed, but fail to mention that they are very well off, and are infact not oppressed in anyway, just like to say so.

Hmm. I guess that's a problem with the liberal controlled public-education system. Teachers have always taught us he's a perfect man out to give equal to everybody.... Never knew there was a bad side to him. ;)

You mean they did not teach you that he used money from his group to pay for hotels, hookers, booze, and other things that he said were not good? They did not teach you that he plagerized most of his speeches and books from other people? They did not teach you that he was a communist? They did not teach you that he liked to beat woman?

Exactly. That's the problem. From fourth grade all the way up to eigth grade. But then again, I live in a blue state...

Sorry for errors, everyone, but I posted this at about 2 o'clock A.M. in my time zone, so the errors are a result of sleep-deprivation.

Kennedy stood up against Communism, King didn't do anything for me.

Kennedy was a failure as president, while MLK was moderately successful in what he did, even if he had his own flaws outside that. So, I'd go with MLK, although neither belong on a top-50 list of Greatest Americans.

Don't yah just love the horrible mangling of JFK's legacy that the democratic party has done?

JFK was a true american. He fought those who opposed him, conned the people into doing the work for him-"Ask not what your country can do for you..."-and he had his mistresses on the side while Jackie was busy looking pretty. I challenge anyone to disagree with THAT!!

MLK was also a womanizer. Must have been a 60's politician thing. ;)
