Here is something nice and unsettling i found on CNN. http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/06/06/milk.terror/index.html

Gives me reassurance that people are being careful and what they say. Pfff... anyway anyone else notice that one of the authors are Chinese? Sort of a interesting point.

We live in a FreeSociety. It is impossibly easy for anyone with 4 functional brain cells to completely destabilize/terrorize/poison large portions of the US. We just don't guard our infrastructure in any appreciably secure way. Literally every day somebody submits yet another White Paper to the Feds with novel ways to shut down the power grid, poison a water supply, etc. It's not big news.

Fortunately, the most brilliant thing the splodydopes can think up is "Vehicles = Guided Bombs/Missiles".

That said, anybody starts using chem/bio in a way that we can definitively determine is not accidential... well, glass parkinglots come immediately to mind.

Apart from the fact that the milk supply already contains all kinds of things...

A case of Government censorship of academic writing, I reckon. They even had suggestions on how to improve the situation.

Even worse though is your comment on how one of them is Chinese (he could be Taiwanese...). He's got a Chinese name, but that's all for f***'s sake.
What do you think, that evil Chinese students are in alliance with "Terrorists" and try to destroy the US through its milk supply?

Sounds very xenophobic to me

Don't forget that the Space Shuttle program was grounded because it "could have been used as a weapon" or some such nonsense.

You're right that people think of ways of how the US could be harmed every day, and as well as to prevent it. Anyone with common sense and some intelligence could figure out any number of ways to do so with the US, or any other country, as well as their feasibility. Frankly, to pull an article like that one, and call it a "road map for terrorists" is absolutely asinine. The information that it provides, such as doses of botulinum required for fatal levels for a certain volume, can be found on the net and I'm betting your local library as well. There're a number of other examples of information that's freely available that could be used for malicious gain, but to censor it because there is the simple chance that someone could use it for such is a result of extreme paranoia, and a sign of poor thinking.

I thought it was because of its tendency to blow up and burn up? But I suppose you could use it as a weapon, although it's not really very pilotable. But I can just imagine astronauts passing through metal detectors and having to take their shoes off and surender their nail clippers before being allowed in it.

"On no account will a Commie ever drink water, and not without good reason...Water is the source of all life. Seven tenths of this earth's surface is water. Why, you realize that seventy percent of you is water...And as human beings, you and I need fresh, pure water to replenish our precious bodily fluids... (Mandrake chuckles nervously) Mandrake, have you never wondered why I drink only distilled water, or rain water, and only pure grain alcohol?...Have you ever heard of a thing called fluoridation? Fluoridation of water?... fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous communist plot we have ever had to face."

As I said, he may very well have been a Taiwanese Student.
The Anti-Japan protests, while I don't agree with them, were probably not totally spontaneous, but how does that matter?
I might as well say that in 1989 Chinese students were rolled over by tanks...

And I don't see why China and the terrorists are working together to destroy the Land of the Free by poisoning its Milk Cows...

Actually, it was grounded because of the more recent shuttle disaster. You have to remember that those vehicles are extremely old (20 years+, I believe) and have been used WAY past the date they were designed for. After losing the Columbia, the missions were scrubbed until the remaining shuttles were checked over stem to stern for signs of fatigue in the tiles, wiring, rubber seals, et cetera. A space-rescue plan has also been drawn up, but if I recall correctly, were it ever necessary to implement it, it would mean the end of the shuttle program since it would probably end with two of the three remaining shuttles being destroyed.

No,no..I was referring to shortly after 9/11, and before the Columbia Disaster.

Nope..because they were apparently worried that terrorists would steal it, or hijack it (don't ask me how, because it takes years of training to be considered for a shuttle mission, and I'm fairly certain terrorists don't have space centers lying about, but hey, I could be wrong! Also, security is always very tight around the shuttle.). If I happen to be wrong on it being grounded around that time, correct meh, but I'm fairly sure I"m right.

I think most of the shuttles are 'round 20 years old, but I don't think they're over that age by much.

Well, I'd like to throw in a nice little quote from the President:

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we," Bush said. "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

That should leave everyone assured that all is being done to... uh... well... nevermind! I keep my fingers crossed that nothing else will happen... Nomatter how likely that is, I keep it with Han: "Never tell me the odds." Everything will be fine - one day!

The other has a Jewish name.

Insinuating that a chinese name implies disloyalty or 'terrorist' intentions is probably flaming or flamebait. Honestly.

Also, the government's favorite means to hush up its failure to safeguard the country against terrorism seems to be the silencing of its critics. This isnt the fist such paper they've tried to censor.

Perhaps had we not flushed a trillion dollars down the iraq toilet, we'd have money to do things like safeguard the milk supply.

Perhaps they dont want anyone to figure this out.

Well actually i put that in there considering a Chinese national is popping his mouth off in Australia about chinese operatives. There are a ton of them in the US. Who is to say that they are not in league with the devil. They did fight us all through the Cold War. Yugoslavia/Iraq (tech advice, weapons sales to our enemies) the most recent wars. Stealing our national secrets. Military and civilian industry. Face it the Chinese are not our friends. We may be economically tied but thats it.

If the person is a terrorist operative, you'd think they'd do more than telling the government how not to have its milk poisoned.

Oh, and government =/= people. Chinese government is not your friend. Individual Chinese people can be. There are over a billion of them, after all.

Actually i do have chinese friends. I go there to buy goods for my business. I do have a limited understanding on there culture. Can say that they do operate differently than the west does. They think very differently too. Not saying that this author of this article is a Chinese spy. But am saying that take in consideration the nationality of one writing the articles. They sometimes and often have alternative reasons for doing things.

Perhaps had we not flushed a trillion dollars down the iraq toilet, we'd have money to do things like safeguard the milk supply. Not unless you want the US to become a Military/Police State with armed guards surrounding all major and minor infrastructure "vulnerabilities".
Also, the government's favorite means to hush up its failure to safeguard the country against terrorism seems to be the silencing of its critics. This isnt the fist such paper they've tried to censor.
Restricting the general public dissemination of this sort of paper is the only thing they CAN do short of becomming a Police State. Like I said, anybody with 4 operational brain cells (and a twisted personality, like mine) can come up with really Evil, simple and effective plans to kill thousands/millions of innocent USians. The only reason things like that haven't been tried is because the people willing to try it dedicate their operable brain cells to Fanaticisim rather than Stragety or Tactics.

Perhaps they dont want anyone to figure this out.

Duh. Police States (non Libertarian ones anyway) aren't fun.

You know, I suspect that Stanford University might just run a few checks on the people it awards fellowships to at CISAC.
