Does anyone hear have anything valuable? Yesterday, I got a bunch of old foreign coins from my grandpa. I have a Belgian coin from 1837, a bunch of Swedish coins with Gustav on the front from the early 20th century, a bunch of old British coins (the oldest one has her Majesty Queen Victoria on the front and is from 1899), some from Germany (not sure if they're East or West German, but they're from the 70s and 80s, so Germany was still split in two when they were made), a bunch of other British coins, a crapload of Bahamas coins, from Irish ones, Canadian ones, a Finnish one, a few from France dating from the early 1940s, a few from the Netherlands dating from the same era, a few Mexican ones, a Panamanian one, a Jamaican one, a Venezuelan one, and even a few from (ugh) Nazi Germany.

I have some coins from late 19th century Britain and Ireland throughout the 20th century. I have an extensive global stamp collection covering the entire 20th century. However I am no longer an enthusiastic collector of either.

Guys / gals - this is not really a good idea to be discussing on-line.

Besides, the most valuable thing any of us has is our good name.

I doubt your Finnish coin is worth much. I have silver ones predating our independence (from 1874), and those are more or less worth zilch.

Edit: Ahh... you weren't asking about your coins... you were trying to find out about my valuables... and where I keep them. Not going to happen, mister!

I don't know if they're valueable at all, but we have a whole bunch of newspaper clippings from when my great grandfather was a correspondant during the first world war. They're kinda interesting.

We have a playboy from 1962 which might be valueable someday.

Valuable, as in worth much (wondering why just old, rare stuff is being discussed...)?

My car is the most expensive item I own. And it's not that easy to hide...

I know. And you really don't want to lose your most valuable possessions to me (That includes everything....yes even that ;)). And who knows, there may be lots of kleptomaniacs on-line.

And a note to everyone, if you ever hear of a theft committed in a house with a burglar alarm, a dog, and with the rifled room's door locked from the inside, you'll know whom to blame. :p

My most expensive property is my waterbed, definitely. You may well come and try stealing it. :D If you manage to carry it away, (one ton +-) you deserve it.
The thing I value most is a picture of me that was painted by a real artist.
It might not be of any interest to anybody else than me. Except the artist's husband, maybe...

Anyone else?

A pre-Polish invasion Nazi issue Walther P38 with it's original holster, in perfect working condition (although the grip is a bit damaged from when it originally *ahem* changed hands). On it's own its not too valuable (just a little over a grand), but the story behind it and how it made it's way into the hands of my family (a doughboy's trophy of his personal triumph over an "aryan") makes it nearly priceless to me.

I had a gold plated Buescher tenor sax from the twenties with a small bell that would play sharp so that when recorded with the equipment of the time it would balance out. It was a smoooooth saxophone and had a velvet tone to it, and that slightly tarnished gold gave it a cool look. I liked playing on something that has probably had many lives through the hands of the people who played it. Unfortunately I broke the neck and, in true jazz musician style, pawned it to pay bills and was never able to get it back.

My most beloved now is a '67 Bus and a Yanagosawa alto that is like if lightening was made out of butter. And this Mac, because it does all that editing for me while only pissing me off a little.

The guy who lives next door to you, or down the street, or one town over, right there in Wellington also happens to play NS - among other things - just so he can read along and find out interesting stuff, like exaclty where your house is etc etc etc.

Don't be paranoid, but do be smart. Tell, if you must, what you've got - as long as you haven't told who or where you really are.

Apart from myself, the most valuable thing I own is my iPod. But that has no sentimental value (as of yet) and the antique coin collections are cooler anyway... :)

An autographed picture of Tony Blair. I wrote him a pseudo-sexual letter once while drunk. My friend loves him and wanted to write to him, so I thought, "What the hell..." and did it, too.

I got a pair of blades which were used by some relative waaaaaaaaaay back against the invading turks. They got cyrillic inscriptions on them like "Against the turk with the help of god" and such. I don't remember all the inscriptions.

I don't know if they are valuable or not but they are in very good condition considering that they are very old.
