If there's general agreement, we could place the top three vote-getters in the three seats we will have in Parliament, and offer the Party Chairmanship to the person with the fourth most votes.

What thinkest thou???

_________________________________________________________________

The final election results are in and I have to confess to being totally amazed!

We did far, far better than I actually expected to do:

Party of Whatever Works: 81 votes, 10.71% => 2.68 seats => 3 seats

Please allow me to express my heartfelt thanks to you for your vote and for your efforts on behalf of POWW! We have a great membership, drawn from both right and left, and all points in between.

Now we need to talk about who we're going to send to Parliment. Although I would prefer to send one member from each point on the political spectrum ( left, right and center ), I firmly believe in the electoral process. Accordingly, we will hold elections for MP ( 3 seats ) as soon as possible.

If you would like to stand for MP, let me know immediately!

If you want to vote in this election for POWW MPs, you need to send me a Telegram so we can add your name to the list of members. We will then send you a URL for where the vote will be taking place. I would prefer that this begin before 10:00 AM US Eastern Daylight Savings Time, June 7, 2005.

As you vote, and as you continue to participate in the ongoing processes of the Party Of Whatever Works, please keep in mind the principles we have advocated from the very beginning:

* A non-ideological, reasoned approach to issues.

* The highest standards of ethical behavior.

* Dedication to the greatest good for the greatest number, and effective means of support to those most in need.

If you have questions, suggestions, concerns, please post them here or, once you have the information, in our forum.

Once again, let me congratulate each of you on a job well done, and thank you for supporting the Party Of Whatever Works! You're fantastic!

Now I am shocked. I was sure that you would have voted DSP or UDCP. :p

Congratulations to the Party of Whatever Works on your showing. Well done.

I need POWW members to comment on this:

I am considering placing my own name up for MP from POWW. I have mixed feelings about this, since I don't want the Party to become too reliant on one person.

Your comments, suggestions, criticisms are humbly solicited.

If I run against you I'll wait until the results are nearly in before voting. That way I'll get in good with whoever wins. ;)

(If I get "page cannot be displayed" one more time I'll scream)

That final push in the closing stretch that put us up in forth was awesome. We fell after a while after doing alright at first, but thankfully we were able to get a good enough push in the home stretch.

Eh? What are you wanting the Party Chair position to be a separate position from Parliament MP's? As in no MP's can be Party Chair, and vice versa.

Not necessarily. I'm just concerned that we not rely too much on a handful of individuals, including ( perhaps especially ) me. :)

Hmm, although that idea for a party chair seems like maybe a good idea... Anyway back to the concern, it doesn't seem to be a problem right now since wasn't the original list for who is to be voted into those three seats not including you at first, and it was already about five options at that point?

But I do kinda see what you mean, as there aren't really all that much responses to each of these things. Although that's probably due to time differences or summat.

Well, I'm certainly willing to be considered as a possibilty for a Parliament seat...though I doubt I'll win. :p

I also like the idea of having a Party Chairman seperate from the Parliament seats. That might help keep the rest of the party organized and active for future activities.

Well, I think that each person should vote for three people, one for each seat. Then the top three vote-getters, of course, recieve the seats.

That way people aren't stuck with just one option for three different positions.

As I noted: "You may vote for up to three candidates." :)
