Hoard Oil, Hoard Oil, Hoard Oil, Hoard Ammunition/Firearms

I think we all know that oil will sooner-or-later be in short supply, so I think now would be a good time for as I like to call it, "Pre-Emptive Hoarding". Hurry! Hoard before everyone else starts hoarding and prices go up! Also, before the ensuing Anarchy during the oil shortage you might want to hoard ammo and firearms not only to fight off the hoards of Oil Zombies that will swarm at your door by standing above your doorway on your roof with some close friends blowing the Oil Zombies in the head with shotguns, but also to restrict the supply to those whom do not have guns yet and obviously will want one as the Oil Zombies emerge.

Or...you could switch to hydrogen and then point and laugh at everyone else.

Or develope nuclear fusion at a controlled level and get rid of all those fuels. :P

The country I'm in has plenty of fossil fuel. Tell you what, we'll sell you some. We don't have enough for you to drive SUVs, but it won't kill you to buy a Japanese car.

And as for oil zombies, have you ever considered that they may just be people who've eaten too much greasy food and now have an oily skin problem? I'd lay off shotgunning them until they actually try to eat your brains or turn your body fat into an oil substitute.

Heh, you're too late. The US government's already got about 22.4 billion barrels (http://www.nationmaster.com/country/us/Energy) hoarded away. No way you'll compete with that.

On that note, I wonder how many barrels of oil we could harvest from teenagers' unwashed hair this summer?

Which a large lot of hydrogen is produced from oil... damn.

I say, hoard away your twinkies. They never die. And lots and lots of Sour Patch Kids.

And then there's oil in the U.S. that's still underground. Actually, that's probably a good place for it, nasty, sticky stuff. Eggs taste awful when you try to fry them in it.

I drive a Japanese SUV... OMG WHAT WILL I DO?!?

:p

Seriously, I drive a Toyota Sequoia. Pretty good on gas mileage for as big as it is. :D

No way you'll compete with that.Which, at current usage, would last us about three years if we got cut off completely. Thing is, if there were any real shock to our foreign supply, that oil would be so prohibitively expensive that almost no one would be able to purchase it--purchase what was left over after the military appropriated what they needed, that is. Hell, oil is $55 a barrel right now and OPEC's running at better than 90% capacity--those reserves don't mean dick compared to that. We could empty the reserves and it wouldn't have an appreciable effect on prices over the long term.

Yes, big four wheel drives seem to be becoming more popular in Japan, but I'm not sure why. Gasoline is kind of pricey. It's a status symbol I guess and if you live in the mountains in Japan it could actually be handy on those snowy days. But I've seen a guy driving a monster truck around in a Japanese town where it quite honestly wouldn't fit on many of the streets. I think perhaps he could only drive it on the highway and in the shopping center park.

this poster obviously missed the alternate fuel topic. we will nnever run out of oil because we can grow it(ever heard of bio deisel? it works for gasoline to), it will just cost a hell of alot more

on the hydrogen comment, hydrogen does not come from oil, hydrogen particles are in the air and are one of the basic componants of water. making it one of the most readily available fuels in the world. when you burn it it becomes water again....wondeful how that works ;)

Get lots of oil now, and then sell it to by solar panels for your roof when the price goes up.

Unfortunately, extracting pure hydrogen is an energy demanding process, and the process requires more energy than you can later release from burning off the hydrogen. So it's not really a source of energy.

Oh, and by all means, keep burning oil as much as you can. The prices can only go up, and that means more money for Norway ;)
