So do you think it will eventually lead to a more fair system of lower insurance for competant drivers, or a way to keep the poor off the road?

It's a way for insurance companies to make more money by reducing their risk, but it's a nightmare in terms of personal privacy. If you want to make the trade, then be my guest, but I won't do it. I don't even want the government tracking me--I certainly don't want an insurance company doing it.

But what if they all decide to implement such a system? You'd be either stuck with it, have to go to a fly-by-night ghetto insurance company, or drive without insurance (which is illegal in many areas)....

I don't know. I'd like to think that some enterprising company would find a way to make the privacy angle work for it without finding themselves at such a terrible disadvantage, but I have my doubts.
