Are there any other Burners out there on this board? I can't possibly be the only one. For those that don't know what Burning Man is. (http://www.burningman.com/)

I was wondering what any Burners think about The Man being a Pirate Utopia, as defined by Hakim Bey.

I know what it is. Its an interesting concept and I'll probably go next year if I don't intern with one of the big 4 accounting firms. Have never been in the past.

I was going to go last year but I ended up getting really REALLY sick and had to spend my ticket money on doctors and prescriptions. :(

Also, with the censorship (http://reason.com/0112/ci.bd.artistic.shtml) and the Burning Man officials playing "cease and desist (http://community.rantmedia.ca/node/877#comment-6317) " with RantRadio, I don't think I'll be going anytime in the near future.

Also don't forget to read about BurningMan's hypocrisy when it comes to advertising.

I remember the Jiffy Lube censorship. It made most Burners very angry. Personaly, I think the sign was tame compared to what was going on INSIDE the Jiffy Lube tents.

I don't like they way they handle the copyrights of any film, video or photo taken inside Burning Man. Its a travesty. It was prompted by all the money private videographers and photographers were making off the sale of Burning Man footage and images. They maintain they do this kind of thin to ensure Burning Man reamains free of journalists, lecherous photographers and gonzo pornographers. Its just an excuse to make more money. Larry Harvey has gone from being starving artist to being a multimillionare businessman, riding on the back of his creation, The Burningman Festival.
