Back in the day I did research when I wasn't able to form my own opinion (Or even if I did. I've had some pretty dumb opinions.) Have you tried using Google (http://www.google.com)? Tell us what you get out of the articles on there and we'll tell you what we think about it. Think of it as a rite of passage.

GPS of course, everything from civ airlines, to soccer moms in suv's, to military jets, to puppy tags, etc, etc rely on gps tech. Weather sat's are totally passive. Even if you have an idea about what the weather will be like, you still cannot change it. Unless you are the russian military. They can seed a cloud the day before a political rally or holiday and make the clouds rain themselves out before the big event.

And to counter blessed assurance:

Weather satellites can be used to predict disasters, like hurricanes approaching a coast, allowing people to be evacuated. They tell farmers if their crops should be protected against a hailstorm. And more people are interested in the weather than in their exact location.

Just some offhands.. but it is *your* homework after all :P

Why ? He can never fill a complete serious debate with this, but it does give him a nudge in the right direction.

i agree with Blessed Assurance, GPS is needed thousands of times everyday, but weather satalites are needed much less.

In high school I think you could get away with what's here and a generous amount of bullshit. Not if I was teaching the class, of course, but I'm the exception. :)
