The last adjective I would ever expect to see used in a sentence about J. Edgar Hoover is 'cool'. 'Hypocritical', 'closeted', 'corrupt', 'immoral', 'unethical', sure - Hell, I'd even be willing to accept the descriptive phrase, 'undoubtedly burning in the skillet of Hades as I type this' but 'cool'?
