Hmm... $140,000 for a car... First, I'd feel like a FUCKING IDIOT for buying a car that costs as much as a house.

But, if I have that kind of scratch to spend on a car, then I can afford to have the bodywork fixed.

Damned straight. Get it repainted immediately.

Also if it's malicious damage from some asshole I'd try to find out who did it and activate his dental plan. (Don't you just love "Better Off Dead" references?)

Swear. Also, the whole "feel like an idiot for buying a car for that much" thing, but I'd mainly swear.

West Buttfuck Wyoming. There's plenty of little communities out in the sticks where you can buy land and homes cheap.

140,000 for a car? Why would anyone need a car that expensive? Oh and by the way 140,000 might buy you a house somewhere in the mid states but not in Santa Cruz.

West Buttfuck Wyoming. There's plenty of little communities out in the sticks where you can buy land and homes cheap.Hey, that's not fair. Wyoming's housing market is being glutted by liberal pansy californians who want Wyomingites to stop hunting and figure the best way to do it is to buy all the houses and push real Westeners out of the market.

When I tried to buy a house there (that was built in 1980 for <$50,000 US as a HUD home) they wanted $150K for it.

Now I'm stuck in greater Chicagoland. (In an $80,000 Condo...)

A good friend of my dad came to the painful decision that he had to sell his pride and joy, a Ferrari Daytona he had bought new decades ago. It was in near mint condition with all its original parts. He haggled with many prospective buyers, and when he finally found one, he decided to take it out for one last spin before he handed it over and it left his life forever. On the way back from the drive, a mere 15 minutes before the buyer was to arrive, he got t-boned by an indiot in an SUV. He escaped without a scratch, but the Daytona was wrecked...bent frame, twisted coachwork, etc. His car went from being worth 250,000 to 20,000. The buyer bought it anyway, painstakingly restored it, sold it for 200,000 and the last owner wrapped the damn thing around a telephone within a week of buying the car. He limped away from the crash with only a broken leg and lots of bruises, but the Ferrari was totaled and is now scrap only. I figure the car had suicidal tendencies.

Thats the most bad luck I've ever heard of associated with an expensive car.

If I were lucky enough to be able to afford a $140,000 car, I'd have the cash to fix it when it got scratched, but I'd be upset that someones ignorance cost me money.

Houses come cheap in Eastern Canada.

That much could get you a nice little home here.

EDIT

I don't think I'd ever spend more than 40K on a new car let alone 140K.

Some cars where just meant for one owner, it seems. Thats damn tragic. My grandpa had a Boattail Auburn that my grandma wrapped around a tree...sad sad...though I don't think that car would have survived all the way to me-the Tiger didn't, the Land Rover didn't, the TR-3 didn't, the 356 didn't, the Trident didn't. What did? 77 Malibu Classic. Not the hot rod, the other one. But I've managed to buy my own buckets with potential, and thats better than inhereting a car.

If my 140k car got scratched I would accept that it's a car and cars get scratched. It was going to happen at a vintage event or Porsche club event anyway-since those are the only two instances where I'd drop that dough on a car.

first, fix the car, if you can spend that much, then you sure as heck can afford to fix it,

secondly, you can buy a home for 140000 in a lot of places.

I'd get it detailed. And yes I would like a $140 000 car. Hell if I had the money I'd go pick myself up an Enzo, a Maserati and while I'm in Italy maybe a Zonda or two. Then I'd stop in Germany and get a BMW M6 fresh off the assembly line (for daily driving) and then I'd head over to the Uk and put an couple Aston Martins and a Lotus 7 on the order form as well. After that I'd head down under and get 4 Ford Falcons, 1 coupe and 3 sedans which I'd then spend 20 grand each restoring into the 3 cop cars and the Interceptor from the original Mad Max. On my way back home I'd pick a few things up in the States, a Saleen, maybe a Lingenfelter, the classy Tucker and I'd stop by an army base and see if I could slip an M1 Abraham across the border too.

Some might call me crazy for saying yes to a $140 000 and the rest of you would surely lock me up if I actually went and bought the above mentioned cars. But I said if I had the money. And what good is money if you don't spend it? I'd be much happier having all those cars then having a billion dollars in the bank. Now some of you might say, I could donate to charities andother worldy organizations, but if I could afford $100 million dollars in cars not to mention insurance and up keep I could afford to donate to every charity in the world. And I would.

You can get some pimp rides for $140k-
911 Turbo (http://totalcar.index.hu/images/testbemutato/911turbo/911turbo_08.JPG) or one of these (http://www.collectorcartraderonline.com/adsearch/collectorsearchprocess.html) which includes the Gallardo (http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/9/5/79481795.htm). If you hunt around you can get one of these (http://www.terra.com/autos/promo/ensueno/img/50gal_mercedes.jpg), which is one of the most beautiful cars ever.

Or, you give a living wage to 6 or 7 homeless people for a year...either way....
