What mental image do you have of your nation. I thought it would be kinda of neat to hear how my fellow NSers imagine their Nations look. In the interest of brevity and readbility, try to keep it to no more than 3 paragraphs. Please stick to 1 citizen per post, Otherwise things'll get all messy. There are a lot of imaginative people on here, I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to say.

The Imperial Dominion of Sdaeriji is a massive, safe nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 4.706 billion are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Commerce and Law & Order are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Arms Manufacturing.

Record sales of 'child-whacking sticks' have been recorded, skateboarding is punishable by heavy fines, Pinkerton agents are called in to forcibly break up white collar strikes, and euthanasia is illegal. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Sdaeriji's national animal is the Imperial Dragon, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the denarius.

Sdaeriji is ranked 12th in the region and 130,682nd in the world for Best Weather.

I was hoping to avoid those things. They're boring and far to general, but I suspect you were just joking around.

The Dominion of Undelia is essentially a giant Industrial factory. Most of the land is barren and scarred, except for the farmlands which are artificialy maintained with huge amounts of fertilizers and pesticides. There are no traditional cities. All cities are effectively factories or military bases. Here the citizens spend most of their lives working and earning the money necessary to survive. The people often contemplate how they can better earn more money for themselves and their families and are very careful not to offend their leaders, even in their thoughts.

Because of strict immigration almost every citizen is a pureblooded Banks of Utopia Utopian. They have pail white skin, jet black to light brown hair and brown to green eyes. Upper class men usually ware expensive three piece suits while poorer men outfit themselves in U.S. 1920’s like clothing. The women ware long formless dresses, the richer the women the more ornate the dress.

The iconic image of Undelia is Fortress City, a massive black citadel that extends out of the ground in the most barren part of Undelia. Here lives the Overlord, the god-king of the Dominion, and his servants. It is also the headquarters of the military, the police forces, the Church of the Twin-Dragons and where foreign nationals are housed.

The United Socialist States of Kilobugya could appear, at the first glance on a map, as a huge forrest. But by looking closer, you can see a lot of small villages, many medium-sized cities and a few big metropolis. All those cities are interconnected by a highspeed railroad network, allowing citizens to travel quickly and cleanly from one to the other. In cities, a dense public transport network, running day and night, and freely available bikes allow the citizen to move as they wish, without using cars. Traffic jams and air pollution have no meaning here.

The citizen of Kilobugya are highly educated, and have a lot of free time to spare in museum, libraries or one of the many free universities. They are very compassionate with each other, knowing that the strength of Kilobugya is inside cooperation, sharing, and everyone being there to help every other citizen. They often have intense, but always polite, discussions about politics, from nationwide decisions to where to put the newest subway station.

They all dress as they wish, even if many teens chose to wear clothes with bunnies, the national animal and symbol of our verdant forests, or columbus, the symbol of peace and fraternity. and are free to live their own personal lives as they like. Same sex couples are not even seen as odd or weird, but just as normal as anything else. Racism is just completly unknown, as people tend to judge other on how they are inside, not outside; and couples of different skin colors are as common as couples of different hair or eye colors.

The symbolic building of Kilobugya is probably the Great Library, or the Great University, both built over the ruins of barracks and prisons that existed before the Peaceful Socialist Revolution. Both those buildings are huge, and somewhat luxurious, always freely open for people wanting to read, study or teach. The park behind those two buildings, the big Happiness Park, is full of young (and some less young) couples declaring their love to each other, or showing a bunny hiding behind a tree to their newborn child.

The citizens of the Dominion are strictly human. The cause of this is that to date, no non-human races have chosen to immigrate to our nation. The average Malchikai (the predominant ethnicity within the Dominion) is around six feet tall, has straight, jet black hair, and light blue eyes. There are of course citizens who stray from the norm, and they are most often crossbreeds of Malchikai and other human ethnicities, or simply first generation immigrants from other nations.

The Malchikai have a very conservative sense of fashion. The prefered colors for clothing seem to be black, tan, burgundy, dark blue, pastel blue, and pastel green. Though there is a great variety in Malchik clothing, it does have a certain cultural pattern and uniformity about it. Popular items of clothing amongst our people are soccer-type shoes, loose fitting slacks, double or triple buckled belts, plain T-shirts, tunics, hoodies, cartigans, and high-collared shirts. Men and women of the business world tend to wear a formal combination of leather dress shoes, slacks, and collarless, long sleeved tunics. Government officials, usually Sithwraiths, wear the trademark black and burgundy robes of the Order.

It can be noted that the Malchikai allow themselves both extravagance and promiscuity in their dress code. In the heat of the summer, young woman are often seen to be wearing nothing but a light pair of slippers and a short-skirted, low cut summer dress. In the winter, the callsign of any fashionable Malchik is a long, furlined winter coat, complete with polished tiger's teeth for buttons, and a pair of high quality, fine leather gloves. The Malchikai heritage is one of winter hunters, and to this day they still love their furs and leathers.

The Malchikai society lives according to a strict cast system. At the top are the Sith Lords and their familiars, who make up less than 1% of the total population. All government and religious functions are restricted to this dark Order of individuals. Membership is not hereditary, the Sith have a strict selection process by which they chose children to initiate into their order and train in their ways. These children, if born outside of the Order, are taken from their families, and often never see their loved ones again. It is a cruel reality, but one which Malchikai society has grown accustomed to over the many generations since the Sith took power over their people.

The next class down the rung is the so called "ten percent", the industrialists, financeers, and their employees. The men and women of the proffessional corporate world enjoy a great deal of privilage, but are also expected to produce results. Failure is not an option amongst these cut throat capitalists, it usually only takes one mishap to end an illustrious career. Needless to say, the suicide rate among the ten percent is alarmingly high. Again, citizens are not born into the ten percent, one must earn his position amongst them. Free post secondary education and government internship programs assure that the brightest and most ambitious of the Dominion's citizens have a chance to achieve this high rung of Malchikai society, even if they were born into a farming family.

After the ten percent, we have the army, which again makes up only about one percent of society. Service men and women are highly esteemed in Malchikai society, which, afterall, exists in a state of so called "war culture". The Sith glorify war and conquest, and sacrifice most of all. For the soldiers of the Dominion, who's job it is to sacrifice their lives for the state, this means that they are in the constant spotlight of the propaganda department. Soldiers therefore usually live very luxurious, though very short lives.

Then you have "the rest", small time entrepreneurs, tradespeople, laborers, and farmers. These, usually left to their own devices, live very hardworking lives. Steping on high-cast toes usually means persecution, or even execution, so they have learned to keep their heads down amongst their superiors. Still, they are fiercly patriotic, and fiercly loyal to the Dark Lord, as he has provided them with a world where education is free, health care is free, and the very thought of tax is scoffed at. In comparison to many other capitalist countries, the "Drudges" of the Dominion usually live prosperous lives, and are provided with every opportunity to advance.

Which leads us to the final class, the "Forsaken". Almost all crimes within the Dominion result in being sentenced to life long hard labor in government run work camps. Life long doesn't usually last longer than five years, as these prisoner laborers usually work eighteen hour days, seven days a week, in miserable conditions. The Dark Lord, who has provided his people with so much opportunity to advance themselves and prosper, does not tolerate dicent. Breaking the Dark Lord's Law is considered High Treason, and is punished accordingly.

Well, here's how I see the the people of The Onrushing Sound Of The Downmarching Void. Its, um, weird like me.

The Downmarching Void is infact a tiny planetoid that was once the centre of intergalactic trade. It was an artifical which harnessed the power of a vast nebula. Unforntunately, the Cthuloid being that the NEbula in fact was, eventually woke up, dragging The Downmarching Void along on its backside as it began to hurtle through the universe. Sometimes The Downmarching Void manages to escape the grasp of the Cthuloids Nebulas pull, and orbits a planet for a few centuries, interacting with the people on the surface of those planets. Inevitably though, the pull becomes stronger and stronger until The Downmarching Void is once again ensared by the Cthuloid being as it maraydes its way through the Ether.

The people of the TDV are of mixed races both human and near-human, and have been for so long that the rich mix of races has been thoroughly blended to the point of being a distinguishing characteristic. They are generally tall and mostly healthy, and every single one of them, though kind hearted souls, are at least a little insane. The Ministry of Shadows is entrusted with protecting the nation from this isanity.

They rely on flying cars, space zeppelins and all kinds of Mad Science to improve their lives and the general aesthic is a combination of Europe between world wars couple with 21st century Europe and strange high technology and all manner of B-movie sci-fi film weirdness. The buildings howerever are of a very Art Nouveau style. The most embematic image of The Downmarching Void would have to be a picture of gigantic zeppelings floating above the countryside, each one a small city, something resorted to in order to ease up the conflict for space created by a huge population in a small area.

The Ultimate Crusaders of Liskeinland:

1. I always imagine a Liskeinlandian as white with black hair - fairly Scandinavian looking, which is appropriate given the region. Healthy mostly, and hardly any scabrous beggars, given my amazing society and health system. :)
2. Star-Wars Jedi-style robes.
3. Very vague on this point… doing what they can as best as they can. Nothing indecent, and nothing really nasty, except for flogging.
4. Either really happy at the integration of church and state or really pissed off because of it.

Ive always imagined the citizens to be fairly uniform, wearing greys, whites, blacks, dark greens, dark blues and little in the way of bright colours. The police force are those kevlar-covered gasmasked and goggled types with military grade firearms. 14% of the population are in the armed forces.

For the actual cities, i think on the exterior lots of skyscrapers, all glass but with other, smaller buildings with steel plates but still a lot of glass. Grid system of roads with a huge motorway around the perimeter with four lanes going each way. Underground train systems are well-funded, good looking and although very popular they are not crowded. Cars are quite few, with a huge ammount of people using subways and trains and a fair ammount walking. Traffic increases slightly at night time, with few people on public transport and hardly any pedestrians.

Interior of buildings is a more traditional and luxurious style with oak and mahogany panneling and furniature, and deep blue/red velvet etc for carpets and curtains etc. Apart from this, the inside is pretty grey as well with very few ornaments and paintings.

On every block there is an underground bunker used during air raids or heavy terrorism, and most of the populace carry concealed 9mm handguns, as this is encouraged but anything bigger is illegal.

2The people enjoy wearing the T-shirt and shorts though because of the strong prescence of Honour and Duty many people wear suits on Sundays.
3Harlesburg's people enjoy all types of sports they are a massivly enthusiastic race when it comes to these pastimes they ar deeply religeous and are charitable looking after those less fortunate then themselves.

4. They think "We're Czardaians. What are you going to do about it?"
5. Cheese. Czardas is famous for its cheese. It also contains vast untapped resources which would come in handy in wartime, and it generally is known for 'helping' other dictatorial governments.

since ashmoria is in the south pacific but has twice the population of china, i kind of think of them living in a tahiti like island group all standing around cheek-by-jowl only able to shuffle a bit from one spot to another.

kinda like that star trek episode where kirk finds himself alone on the enterprise with a pretty girl but when he looks out the window he sees a crush of people.

Don't bother insulting my lack of artistic skill. I know I can't draw. I don't care. These drawings were for MY reference; I'm only sharing them because I'm not in a very eloquent mood today.

A large proportion of the citizens are in the military, so the khaki uniform is quite common, but the lower classes tend to wear something more along the lines of the third one. Although the two Empresses have done a lot to discourage religion and superstition, a lot of Sthyxians still hold to the belief that androgyny is a perfect ideal, so sometimes it's quite hard to tell whether a citizen is male or female. The upper classes don't comform to this belief, however.

The middle costume (dancer/concubine, female) isn't really all that common in Sthyxia, but I thought it was pretty so I drew it. :P

(BTW, this probably should have been posted over in the RP forums.)

1) Mixed - The population of the western Cantons is tend toward either fair with blond or red hair, or quite dark with dark hair. The population of the eastern Cantons is quite mixed, with all sorts of clinal variation.

2) Everybody wears something in public, as public nudity is highly frowned on (although nudity is quite acceptable on private property if allowed by the owner, and there isn't much of the country that isn't in private hands.)

3) Mostly working or studying. A small percentage are serving their military terms. A significant portion of the population are meditating (a fairly significant portion of the population are Buddhist monks). On one's off time, it is quite acceptable to indulge in whatever non-violent activity one so chooses.

4) Industrious and serious, leavened equal measures of punk rock attitude and Buddhist contemplation.

5) New Coin Plaza, the Refuge Monument, or the Whilan Temple.

There are people of all races, and all appearances. Most people are only a few inches different in height and only a few pounds different in weight. Birth defects are unheard of due to massive genetic engineering programs. The Immortality Gene created over 200,000 years ago has spread from only a few hundred people to the entire population, so people do not age past 23 and only die from car accidents/war/etc.

All people in Citarthra wear robes and Khazar (symbol on my nation's flag) necklaces. Robes are colored acording to rank. Proletariat wear plain brown, Citizens wear green, Nobles wear blue, Soldiers wear red, Prophets wear blue with white, Senators wear gold, Advisors wear grey, Emperors wear White, and Kavien (elite ninjas/prophets) wear black.

3. What are they doing?

Lower ranks are concerned with day to day activities, higher ranks are concerned with those they have power over. People gather outside the Imperial Palace to watch executions of criminals, floggings, and hear Imperial announcements.

4.What is the citizens state of mind?

All people are afraid of the never ending war against the alien race called the Orisan. Most strive to become in touch with the world around them through meditation and learning. People work as hard as they possibly can to save themselves from the Orisan, as the two hundred thousand year war continues. The people always think about the Three Avatars who saved the country during times of great need and await the Fourth Avatar who will bring eternal peace.

The capital city of Cavaset Nenvere contains a perfect four-sided terraced pyramid 100 miles tall called the Altar. The Imperial Palace is on the top of the Altar, and huge buildings are built on the terraces.

1. They're short & tubby, with big, bushy moustaches.
2. They wear cricket whites & the baggy green during the day, then the green & gold one-day kit at night.

1. None in particular. We have a lot of different ethnic groups that I can't pronounce.
2. I don't know, but they're wearing something. We don't support public nudity. It's uncouth.
3. I don't know, because I leave surveillence up to the criminal justice system.
4. We are more liberal than most, but we aren't socialist. They call us a "Scandinavian Liberal Paradise," but what do they know really? We're a very compassionate people. We want to help those in need, and we dislike these big, avaricious corporations. We are proud to be living under a government free of corruption.
5. Well, of course the bald eagles. We have so, so many of them.

The Fiefdom of Natashenka (despite its name) is a socially-progressive country with excellent human and civil rights records. Taxes are high, but the citizens don't mind, because the high taxes fund universal healthcare and an educational system that is second to none. Natashenka welcomes refugees from all over the world, and at times even actively recruits them. The people of Natashenka have a high standard of living, and, due to aggressive educational programs on medical issues, the average lifespan for both men and women is over 90 years old.

Natashenka is an ethnically diverse country; Natashenkans trace their ancestry mostly to England, Spain, and Russia, though there are sizeable Scandinavian and South American minorities. The myriad religions and languages are embraced by the government and the people; intolerance is unknown. Every child has the right to learn their native language alongside English in primary school. As a member of the British Commonwealth, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state; while allegiance to the Queen is strictly voluntary, Natashenkans admire her greatly and frequently burst into rousing renditions of "God Save the Queen."

Natashenka is known around the world for its lush rainforests and white sandy beaches. Most of the population lives within 50 miles of the ocean, and for those who live in central Natashenka, the government has funded an expansive and efficient solar-powered railway system, allowing all citizens to enjoy the breathtaking sights that Natashenka has to offer. The people of Natashenka are a fun-loving but hardworking bunch. While they enjoy their weekends at the beach, their work ethic remains strong; a popular saying is "Work hard, play hard." This attitude contributes to a healthy balance in life, and mental health issues are not common. The vast majority of Natashenkans are physically and mentally sound and have an agreeable disposition, which is one of the reasons refugees and immigrants from around the world feel so welcome in this tropical paradise.
