as some may know, i have been in romania and other european destinations for two weeks. things are going so well, i may stay. i have not had internet access most of the time, but now, i am in prague, and had to feed the appetite. what has been going on?

Why would that irritate me? I'm a US Army Ranger ... my MOS was 18B. I've handled my share of firearms. They don't offend me.

Rangers are not 18B. That was the first giveaway for me.

18B is Special Forces Weapons Sergeant

Given his age, and his education claims, he couldn't have been in the service long enough to become either an infantryman who became a Ranger, much less become a Special Forces weapons sergeant.

Given the time it takes to become an 18B, he couldn't have been in combat and been the age he claims to be on more than one site.

And a quick check of the computer at ARPERCEN reveals he was NEVER in the Army - which rather handily rules out being either a Ranger or SF.

And a quick check of the mods at SOCNET (who are active duty or recent SF, SEAL, and Marine Recon) reveals that he definitely wasn't in MEUSOC, either (much less Special Forces).

And - some of the mods at lightfighter also checked.

Just not possible.

Oh, he was just "Playing around" - i.e. Flame-Baiting & being a Troll - by claiming he was both a Ranger and had served in combat. What was really funny is that he was claimed the combat bit again it in a thread about a guy who based the "authenticity" and moral validity his book on his (false) status as an ex-Ranger.

I did ask him about his website that sells pagan stuff, and how that might mix with his Islamic beliefs, and he said that he isn't associated with that site anymore, so hey, I believe him. :rolleyes:

I don't know how long he's been claiming it, but he left a big enough personal ID trail (on NS) for a number of those who he offended (me in particular - Internet Research is a large part of my Job Duties) on these last incidents (esp. this near Memorial Day) to look it up.

Edit: NOTE: Even though I researched his RL through his posted lints to it, I did NOT release any of the detailed information on NS. The rebuttal information I posted was quite general in its specificity. Only two non-identifiable first names of extended family members were mentioned.)

From the top. I must claim complete ignorance. I really didn't even notice he'd been gone until just now.

It was determined by another member of the forum that he was probably not one of the following things he claimed he was:

1. a Native American
2. a former soldier in the Army

Since he posted on other forums using the same handle and style, this other member of the forum easily identified him using public websites.

I verified that he had never been in the Army.

The photo and his real name make it quite clear he's not Native American.

He also not only seems to change his religion, but the actual organization he runs to represent his own variant of that religion, as often as possible. He's been through several iterations in a very short period of time - pagan, psuedo-Jewish, and now his own variant of Islam.

Still selling the pagan t-shirts though.

Aye. I fail to see, at the end of the day, what is gained by lying about yourself to a bunch of strangers. If you're honest and people like you, then maybe you've made some friends. But if you lie, then the people who might like you will hate you when they find out, and the people who disliked you from the beginning won't like you either.
