Have a bit more information? Sexual abuse ranges from a "Nice tits" comment up to rape.

How old were the students, and how old was the minor? What precisely was the sexual abuse? Context is important.

Then it's "abuse" because the girl is 15, while the boys are 16-18. The girl is implied to have been willing.

For some reason, the link won't work for me (I have this problem often, stupid computer)...but heres my take...

First of all, they recieved the charge of "sexual abuse of a minor"...which implies that not only did the victim "consent", but also that no force or coercion was used.

Secondly, a lot of people you know need to go to jail if you advocate that as a sentence for this sort of crime. Start a poll asking how old people were when they lost their virginity, then decide how many people are guilty of this crime. Just cause they were caught does not mean that this sort of thing does not happen hundreds of times a day...and a miniscule percentage of those "offenders" go on to ever be criminals of any sort.

Finally, probation for this sort of crime is no laughing matter. They may have to register as sex-offenders, or if not, then the slightest breach of conduct rules for probabtion may get them revoked, thus placing them in jail under the maximum sentence allowable for that specific charge by law. If any sexual crime is committed by these teens while on probation, you can bet that they will be in deeper shit than anybody wants to be in...ever.

Okay, I may have overreacted. I just have a severe dislike of sexual-abusers. We'll never really know if she consented.

I was just upset that these guys SEEMED to be let off with a relative slap on the wrist...and I was tired...
