I was wondering how far this craze has affected, mainly because I was on this site bands, bands and more bands (http://www.crazybands.com/index.htm) (no means is this all there are) and wondering if I bought every single one I think I would have no arm room left.

Anyway

I hate those things. It started with the "Livestrong" ones and now my sister has about 40 of them.

I refuse to wear any of them.

I think it should only be allowed on the condition that they create "Pro-Racism", "Pro-Bullying" and "Pro-Drugs" bands. Frankly I feel that they are the people we need to identify.

Hey I'd wear a Pro- Drugs band! none of the others though...hmm and I wonder why the pink anti breast cancer ones got so popular after kylie minogue revealed she was ill.

(no disrespect to kylie!)

The reason the wristbands are so great for charity is that they're just glorified rubber bands. They cost two cents to make and then they sell 'em off for a dolla or more to reel in the profit.

Plenty of disrespect to Kylie here.

I feel I must clarify. No respect to Kylie for attempts at music, enough bland pop already! But having breast cancer is pretty shitty, and Kylie always struck me as being a bit nicer and down to earth than most of these talentless 'singers' who insult mine ears with their hideous racket.

Sorry I know this aint got anything to do with wristbands really. So i'll just say the yellow 'live strong' bands will break as soon as you look at them in the wrong way.

 Aren't they the ones who play the Skinhead Circuit? :headbang:

The trend started along time ago. Like back in 98 when the WWJD wristbands came to be.

I see nothing wrong with them if they support a good cause such as the Livestrong Foundation (all the money goes to cancer research).

Yeah, I just get pissed at how much people care when she gets it or Whitney Houston had it but when no celebrity wailer has it, who gives a shit?

(That was rhetorical BTW, some people naturally care but the masses don't)

Yeah fully agree it's unfair...but it's life. She is famous, hence she is more important. Now THATS shitty.

A friend of mine bought the above. Then created a deathly silence in the room when he commented "I think I might the black part off."

I wear a 'support our troops' one and a 'peace (with CND symbol next to it)' one.

Originally, they were designed to raise awareness but now they've just become a way of showing what you really support without you having to say it.

But then, some people get them to say "look, I'm fashionable!" (think teenage girls) or "I'm badass! I've got a wristband that proves it!" (think teenage nerds/boys)

I don't hate them as much as people that try to dress like goths and say they like blood and such (I'm tlaking about wannabes that do it for attention and because they think it's 'cool', not actual goths)

they're made FROM forced labor? So THAT's why there was a bit of hair and bone in mine ;)

Anyway, the only one I wear is one that says "Go Daryl", because he is my friends cousin who was in a severe car accident, and the family needs money to modify their house/pay for medical expenses. Really nice kid...i figure some support can't hurt.

The only one I have is one for Relay For Life because where I work participates in the relay. It's for a good cause, but I don't wear my band much. There are just too many out there and I don't want someone thinking I support something else in case it's similar to something I don't agree with.
