What good could possibly be extracted from a device whose primary purpose is to kill? Be it humans or animals, they're fucking barbaric and they should be outlawed.

I like to learn about guns etc They intrigue me. That's about it.

I sometimes actually doubt that there are any Non-American gun-enthusiasts left in the Real World.
(at least, ones that aren't terrified of being outed, that is.)

What good could possibly be extracted from a device whose primary purpose is to kill? Be it humans or animals, they're fucking barbaric and they should be outlawed.
It could do good in any situation where you'd think it good to kill, or even scare someone off, (leaving sporting aside) such as if you're about to be raped, killed or mugged or if you wanted to help fight off invaders, overthrow a tyrannical govt, arrest a criminal or kill an animal (for food or if they are destroying livestock or whatever).

Furthermore, it takes guns to ban guns. If you want the police to arrest people simply for owning a firearm it is you who is encouraging the use of guns against peaceful citizens, which the vast majority of gunowners are, since all laws at base come down to threats with guns. That seems barbaric to me.

Not realy enthusiast, but pretty i have pretty much knowledge about them. I dont really want one or have everybody and his grandmother run around with them, but they have had a very important impact on society besides making wars more bloody and large-scale than before.

seriously though, although not an obsession i do have a keen intrest in wepons, firearms or otherwise.

I'm not against people having them, but not for me, thank you very much. That said, I do like to watch the WW2 movies and make sure that all the guns are as accurate as possible, though generally you only ever see American and German guns. Most annoying. I want to see the Russian, British, and Japanese weaponry!

I'm much more of an armour (that's tanks, not kevlar) and armchair strategist type of a person though.

No, i was more thinking about the importance guns had in breaking up the feudal structures, paving the way of a rule by the people. Guns took away the importance of a warrior caste who did not contribute to the economy but instead lived of taxes the farming communities they owned produced. The gentry pratically owned those on their lands and this system was stable as long as knights were the most effective and therefore most sponsored unit nation rulers like kings could field. With the advent of guns and their refinement from exotic weapons being used by specialist to a readily available weapon a part-time soldier with minimal training could use effectively the feudal system that suppressed the majority of the populace weakened gradually until it became obsolete.

I'm a british gun enthusiast, but all my guns are flintlock replicas that fire caps. :D

I'm british (well, live in south-east england and I'm part indian) and between me and a few buddies we have more live fire weapons than a platoon would need.

Micah even has a LAW, but by the time we'll need that we'll need a lot more than one.

In this room I have a Colt M1991A1 (unmodified except for wooden grips) and M16A3 (with 3-prong flash hider and M203) and an old Enfiled SMLE (that's a bolt action rifle used in WW2, this one is dated 1917)

How did you get the A3 and A1 with Britain's gun laws?

It's fairly easy if you know Micah.

It's not like we're crazy, we make plans on how best to defend our area in various scenarios such as nazi invasion, alien invasion, demon/hell invasion and zombies.

So if hell opens up and a demon tries to attack people, I'll just pop it in the head with 45 ACP

I know several gun enthusiast from countries other than America. There was a shooting even last month that brought people from Australia, Italy, Canada, Greenland all over the world. It was a hoot to meet them all.


The Italians that we met are coming back in August to shoot with us some more. :D
