The Call To Arms

Give to me your children, even unto the squalling infant
That I may place a spear into their hands
And hate upon their lips.

Cast aside your empty words,
For only the blood of your brother speaks.

Give to me your lives, even unto the spilling of your heart's blood
That none may dispute my will
Nor challenge my might.

Cast down that which you love,
For there is no room in the souls of the loyal.

Give to me your sick and infirm, even unto the eldest of you
That the weak may be culled
And feed the hungry strength.

Cast your fate with mine,
For I am the scourge embraced by all.

Give to me your will, even unto the shackles of slavery
And labor to build your peaceful hell
And poison your neighbor with words.

Cast your gaze upon me!
See your death in my reflection!
I am the smiling lie. I am the trap of your freedom.

Cast it all down
For the sake of greater good.

I was going to Google that to see if it was stolen but ill give you the benifet of the doubt.

Also... I'm up for a war.

Now why would I plagiarise a poem?

And sure, there are any number of wars. Take your pick. Iraq, Afghanistan, half a dozen others in central Africa and South America. Why not get all Rambo'd up and bring the peace of the sword?

It's not a poem. If anything, it's free verse.

No piece lasts either. :D

For those of you who have the crazy idea that war is the answer to all issues are nuts. Every nation is different and we must accept that in order for the world to be a better place. We are shoving our ideas down other nations throats, when we need order and balance and to implement changes slowly. Granted that this takes time and we as a race never have time to slow down and see and understand those that are different.

There's no such thing as a better world. Peace comes only at the business end of a weapon. It's a delusion to think humanity will ever live in tolerance.

"the only way to bring about a lasting peace, aside from changing human nature, is to take the profit out of war"

- Nixon

"it is possible to live in peace"

- Ghandi

"War will not create a just and lasting peace"

- Button I baught from a homeless guy

If there can never be peace forever, why not work towards making it last as long as it can, rather than bringing about more war?

Ghandi, Nixon, Eisenhower, Martin Luther King Jr., and a host of other respected folk think is it possible to create a lasting peace. We just have to try to, and be willing to work towards it, which I don't think we have because, as Mr. Nixion pointed out, war is quite profiable

It's far more peaceful to accept the violence inherent in human nature than try to suppress it. That which is repressed invariably snaps back, and with vengeance. Besides, any species incapable of violence at some level must quickly find itself extinct.

There's a difference between "lasting peace" and "repressing all violence in all humans." It just means working towards less of the massive amounts of people killing each other kind of violence instead of more.

Do you feel the same about laws against assult and murder?

Im afraid its human nature to destroy. Just as its human nature to Create. Friends and I were just discussing the other day about what human kind will do when we meet up in space with another intelligence. Big debate if we would be friendly or aggressive to other beings that we come upon. I think we take over like the borg.

I'd be interested to know how it is flamebaiting or trolling against anyone. I didn't name any political faction or any group of people at all. However you interpret it isn't my problem.

It came to me about halfway through The Seventh Gate, of the Deathgate cycle. Bloody Patryns. Bloody Sartan. :)

We would be aggresive, and then get our asses handed to us on a plate.

And we would be nothing like the borg. We would suck.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no expert on how Generals decide to go to war but I'm reasonably certain that poetry has bugger all to do with it.
