Aside from the obvious of: Mulroney and Chretian and possibly RB Bennet (he did a hell of a job making Canada a hellhole during the Great Depression)...who has been the worst?

And no, PM Martin is doing quite well despite the scanal, which his government was handed down from the previous. And, don't forget, there were other government consumed by scandals just as bad, if not worse.

True. He did kill one of our bigger achievements.

But, he did contribute something very important - The Canadian Bill of Rights. While it was sometime after Tommy DOuglas had done the same thing in Saskatchewan, it was a step forward.

I'd say, it's a toss up on Diefenbaker.

Too many to choose from for so many reasons.

Diefenbacker, for the aforementioned reasons.

Trudeau, for gutting national defence.

Mulroney, for being Mulroney (crook, lying scumbag, toady, general imbecile, etc.)

Chretien, for thinking he was as smart as Trudeau, then proving to everyone he wasn't.

Turner, for being Turner.

Clark, for being as politically savvy as roadkill.

Mackenzie King, for losing Canada's place as one of the main allies in WW2 for being an absolute loony. (Yes, go talk to your deceased pet and Lincoln now.)

Most of the rest, for being crooks, thieves, malingerers, and little else besides.

Pearson was one of the better ones. Though, unfortunately, he was more of a diplomat than a PM.

Trudeau...well, he had his problems, but he did give us the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. They were entrenched, so our rights are permanant and can't be taken away like they could with the Bill of Rights. THe one thing he did right.

I can't say I liked his handling of the LFQ crisis.

Does anyone else find it funny that Martin was apparently trying to emulate Daley in how he governed?

I see no-one mentioned Joe Clark, surely one of the most ineffectual , not to mention short-lived Prime Ministers ever. I mean he was just embarrassing, he looked like John Deifenbaker lite. I was glad when his Government was defeated. Just an afterthought, which would you rather have a weak an useless government or a corrupt one? Oh Yes i guess we've already made that choice, the devil you know.... is still a devil  My apologies to Isselmere, you did mention him, one question though, how is it a person from Scotland is so well versed in Canadian Politics,it is usually of interest to anybody outside the country?

Sir Mackenzie Bowell: (I might be mixing up this one though) MAnaged to suck so bad as PM his own cabinet revoulted against him.

Arthur Meighen: Not many people can get voted out of power a week after being thrust there. Although to be fair, it was the King-Byng affair...

Diefenbaker: The Arrow and Bomarc, as were already stated. Also, he was responsible for the "Diefendollar" ( a 7 cent drop isn't all that big today though, heh)

Joe Clark: Geez, this guy can manage to shoot himself in the foot while the other is in his mouth. First he governs a minority as if it were a majority, then holds a leadership convention with 66% support from his party and loses to Lyin' Brian.

Brian Mulrouney: Nuff said

Turner and Campbell: The sacrificial sheep of retiring PM's
