Damn... was wondering why 'Renolds' wasn't on the list... :(
For me... Will Smith. May not Technically be a Rapper, but I like his lyrics.
Umm I dont care who your favorite Rock bands are
LOL, know your classics. Run DMC was a rap duo that collaborated with Aerosmith on a song, I guess, hence the rock reference.
My favourite rapper? You don't know him, but his name is Niarn

That's a pretty dire list, most of the guys on it are fly-by-nighters.
I guess Shady is probably the best but I've always been a big Jay Z fan. His style is awesome.

And you claim to know rappers? RUN D.M.C. is the first Rap-band ever, they started it all! Before them, there wasn't even anything close to rap-music, so before your start making "smart" remarks like this, better check out what I'm talking about, big brains!

My favourite rapper is Olav Rokne.

Well, I guess Grandmaster Flash and Pigmeat Markham and such don't count?
My most favorite rapper is either the Grandmaster or The Streets.

Let me guess, someone is forcing you to contribute something? No one asked for you oppinion on a genre of music. Your post is at best tangential to the subject and flame-baiting at worst.

Teachers who rap disgust me to my kidneys.
So, why isn't Vanilla Ice on the list?
Actually, I probably couldn't have brought myself to vote for him anyway, even if he is the most entertaining rapper to date. I voted for Eminem, but I don't really like rap that much so I might not be the best judge.
If MC Hammer were on the list I would have voted for him though, he's more entertaining than anyone else on the list, and doesn't make me cringe quite as much as Vanilla Ice.

Oh, they do. Public Enemy is another band that comes to my mind. I remember those basket-ball shoes with gigantic "what-you-may-call-it" underneath the laces...
@Homieville: No problem. They didn't call themselves rappers back in the days 'cause the term didn't exist when Run D.M.C. got big, hence their referral to Rock.
And yes, they did a cross-over with Aerosmith on "Walk this way"...

none of the above cuz all the new ones suck balls
right now the only good music is rock, modern rap and all country should be destroyed because it sucks so bad
some old rap however is worth calling music and lots of old rock

Well, I just wondered, because the first rap eventually was made in the late 60ies / early 70ies which is a little before Run DMC reached their peak, so you really can't say that there wasn't any rap before them. ^^

I agree that people have included raps in their music early on, but the term "rap music" is fairly new and became wide-spread during the 80s...

Public Enemy or 2pac.
None of the ones there. The only person I like who even vaguely raps is Zack De La Rocha. Rap, by and large, I don't like. I don't like it's sound, and I don't like it's message.

What ever happened to Eric B & Rakim?
...RUN D.M.C. is the first Rap-band ever, they started it all!...
Sugar Hill Gang.

Me and him are somewhat of a rap duo. We also look very similar.
And neither of us are that good, either.

Hate rap generally, that said I like Will Smith (possibly slightly biased because I loved Fresh Prince and pretty much every film he's done) and also the Streets.

Sugar Hill Gang.
thankyou! someone who knows of what they speak.
now i'm sorry but all the names on ur list are not, i am afraid, exactly giants of rap music. no b.i.g.? no eric b & rakim? not even tupac? nas 'illmatic'? and where's any mention of the wu tang circa 'enter the wu/ 36 chambers'? boy, rap has been around longer than the last 5 years.
and as for my favourites? ODB ruled RIP. Edan has dope style. But for ultimately cool lyrics try checkin MF Doom- thats the shit right there!
'Wu Tang Clan Wish To Remain Undisturbed, Thankyou Very Much'
Whats with the shit rappers you got up there?
Even though he is a racist fuck Ice Cube is amazing.
Cant think of too many individuals but the best rap groups are definately NWA, public enemy, jurassic 5 and cypress hill.
