LOL, know your classics. Run DMC was a rap duo that collaborated with Aerosmith on a song, I guess, hence the rock reference.

That's a pretty dire list, most of the guys on it are fly-by-nighters.

I guess Shady is probably the best but I've always been a big Jay Z fan. His style is awesome.

Actually, I probably couldn't have brought myself to vote for him anyway, even if he is the most entertaining rapper to date. I voted for Eminem, but I don't really like rap that much so I might not be the best judge.

If MC Hammer were on the list I would have voted for him though, he's more entertaining than anyone else on the list, and doesn't make me cringe quite as much as Vanilla Ice.

Oh, they do. Public Enemy is another band that comes to my mind. I remember those basket-ball shoes with gigantic "what-you-may-call-it" underneath the laces...

@Homieville: No problem. They didn't call themselves rappers back in the days 'cause the term didn't exist when Run D.M.C. got big, hence their referral to Rock.

And yes, they did a cross-over with Aerosmith on "Walk this way"...

right now the only good music is rock, modern rap and all country should be destroyed because it sucks so bad
some old rap however is worth calling music and lots of old rock

I agree that people have included raps in their music early on, but the term "rap music" is fairly new and became wide-spread during the 80s...

None of the ones there. The only person I like who even vaguely raps is Zack De La Rocha. Rap, by and large, I don't like. I don't like it's sound, and I don't like it's message.

And neither of us are that good, either.

Hate rap generally, that said I like Will Smith (possibly slightly biased because I loved Fresh Prince and pretty much every film he's done) and also the Streets.

now i'm sorry but all the names on ur list are not, i am afraid, exactly giants of rap music. no b.i.g.? no eric b & rakim? not even tupac? nas 'illmatic'? and where's any mention of the wu tang circa 'enter the wu/ 36 chambers'? boy, rap has been around longer than the last 5 years.

and as for my favourites? ODB ruled RIP. Edan has dope style. But for ultimately cool lyrics try checkin MF Doom- thats the shit right there!

Cant think of too many individuals but the best rap groups are definately NWA, public enemy, jurassic 5 and cypress hill.
