I actually found this site a while back and find it MUCH more accurate than the Political Compass.

NW-You would feel most at home in the Northwest region. You advocate a large degree of economic and personal freedom. Your neighbors include folks like Ayn Rand, Jesse Ventura, Milton Friedman, and Drew Carey, and may refer to themselves as "classical liberals," "libertarians," "market liberals," "old whigs," "objectivists," "propertarians," "agorists," or "anarcho-capitalist."I just find it funny that Drew Carey and I are roommates. :p

EDIT: Forgot to add the accompanying text. :p

I live next door, just to the West of you, almost due South of Ayn Rand.

The same text.

I figured as much. I'm just a "small L" libertarian. You're a full-blown one. :)

I rather liked the quiz.

SW- You would feel most at home in the Southwest region You advocate a large degree of personal freedom and a large degree of government control over the economy. Your neighbors include such folks as Jesse Jackson, Ralph Nader, Hillary Clinton, and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine, and may refer to themselves as "liberals," "left-wing liberals," "civil libertarians," "democratic socialists," "egalitarians," or "anarcho-socialists."

I'm hardly surprised. :D

I don't think this is very accurate, it seems to ask questions in an American context so it will probably be more accurate for Americans.

South-You are a Southerner-an egalitarian-which means that you advocate an increased role for the government in the economic realm. You are more or less pleased the government's role in the personal realm.

I live next to Jesse Jackson.

Centerville-You would feel most at home in Centerville, which means that you are more or less pleased the status quo-you think the US government has just about the right amount of control over your economic and personal decisions. Your neighbors include democratic and republican party leaders and others who call themselves "moderates" and "centrists."

Huh. Not surprised.

That's my impression as well - still, I live slightly SW of Centerville.

This questionnaire is totally American centric, and focuses practically exclusively on US-only issues (school vouchers, war on drugs, etc.)

I answered the questions as I would do if I were a U.S. citizen and it gave the right answer: I ended up at "Centreville" which is right because I'm a centrist (but I answered that in the previous question, so...).

Yeah. This test has no bearing whatsoever on the politics of other countries. For American citizens only. Some of it's okay, but the difference is in attitudes. In the States, suggesting a National Health Service is a seriously leftist proposal which will lose a person support - in Britain suggesting getting rid of it is the end of one's political career.

The final question, though, that's the killer. American political terms don't mean the same as those same words elsewhere.

Whaaaaa? Me? Centerville? ACK!

I suspect the survey is flawed because it lumps social and economic views together - I am socially liberal and economically conservative and therefore banished to the political purgatory of Centerville. there were also a few flaws, such as the question on immigration, which only focused on LEGAL immigrants, which are really not an issue right now - it is the illegals that are controversial.

SW- what a suprise

That quiz sucks. They seem to think that communists and liberals are the same thing, that john kerry and adolf hitler are left wing and that george bush is an economic centrist

On the North side of Centerville, right next to this lovely little Irish pub that carries 40 kinds of beer, offers great free sandwitches and never closes! :D

Hitler is more or less on track, but the position of Bush in particular near the center is ridiculous. As other people have said, it's far too America oriented.

Yep, which is the main reason I'm not taking this test.
