There is a quote from Dick Clark which reads: "Music is the Soundtrack of our lives," in the nineteen sixties the songs were WAR, by Edwin Starr and William Gillespie's Eve of Destruction name a song which describes the current era, from your perspective. My vote is for Puppetmaster by Metallica.

I would add Mavin Gaye's "What's Going On" to that list for the sixties. As for now, maybe Rilo Kiley's "the execution of all things"

I hate to be so cliché, but "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (http://www.lyricsfreak.com/n/nirvana/101055.html) by Nirvana might suffice nicely.

After travelling through different airports over the past few years, seeing commercials about identity theft prevention, phones that display the caller's phone number, and the amount of security that goes into protecting empty warehouses I would have to say the song of our times would have to be PARANOID.

"World Distruction" - Timezone
"Ball of Confusion" - Love and Rockets

Mind if I edit your spelling just a smudge? The grammar nazi part of my brain is demanding it. I like all of those.

The soundtrack of my life includes all those and, "I Think I'm Paranoid" and "Only Happy When it Rains" by Garbage. What else? "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence, "Where is the Love?" by Black Eyed Peas, despite the inserted religion, and "I Don't Wanna Be" by Gavin Degraw. In fact, there are so many, I doubt I could ever list them all.

"It's the end of the world as we know it"

Haven't heard the song myself...but that title kinda explains it I think.

The liberal part of my brain says "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath.
The conservative part of my brain says "Kill 'Em All" by Metallica.

Well, for today, for me, it's probably 'The Star Spangled Banner', 'Won't Get Fooled Again' by the Who, 'Red, White, and Blue' by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and 'The Great Gig in the Sky' by Pink Floyd.

Does anyone know, or even care for the band called Soundtrack of our lives? Their new cd, origin vol.1., has been kicking my ass for some time now.
