Ok...this one's a quicky. I'm going to a graduation party for a girl and I have no clue what to get her other than a card and a twenty dollar bill. Any suggestions?

Graduation from?
Huge difference between college and high school.

Ah...high school.
I'm finishing my sophomore year of college...and she's some girl I knew in high school. I know I had a party...but it's different for girls and guys. I loved when people gave me twenty bucks. I'm not sure if she'd be as thrilled.

Yeah, that's a tough one. If it were college, something job-related would be good, but high school's less clear. Maybe music?

If she's planning on going away to college or at least moving out of her parents house then making some sort of "survival" pack is cool. When I moved away to school my friend sami gave me a package with mints, batteries, matches, ear plugs, and a whole slew of other stuff. It was pretty handy.
the survival gear sounds like a good idea, and people always use gift certificates, you could get movies, and a restaurant pretty cheap.. that and you cant lose with Graduation mugs, blankets, bears, etc. stuff people will keep forever..
oh yeah, people like pictureframes too... just a thought..
If she is going to go to college.... GIVE MONEY! Everyone gave me money at graduation and it paid for me to get things I needed for college. Or, I guess you could get her a cute lamp or poster of a band she likes that she could spruce up her dorm room with.
If she's not going to college, then I honestly don't know... maybe a gift certificate so she can buy some new clothes for a job she might be getting? Then again, giving her cash and letting her buy what she needs might be better.

My sister graduates from high school next week, and I put together a college basket. I bought her a few t-shirts, a pair of sweats, a hoodie sweatshirt and a bunch of other college memorabilia like a wallet, a lanyard and a throw.

I dunno if you have anything like a Chinese crap shop near you, but the one near me has these fake silver plated wine flutes which they'll engrave on. Something you can have engraved is a good idea.

"Chinese crap." The thought just warms the heart.

Yes, who doesn't like the Chinese crap store?

I was more pointing to the crudeness of the expression.
Personally, I love those little quasi-thrift shops. As you say, perfect for buying little trinkets to people.

Crudeness? Don't blame me, I didn't name the store...

Speaking of funny store names, there's a Japanese/Korean take away store just down the road from me, it's called 'Nip on in' with a big sign out the front saying: "YES! You can wok on in!" It's a nice store, filled with 70's furnature and decorated with Christmas lights everywhere.

Give her Dr. Seuss's classic book "Oh, The Places You'll Go!". She'll love it, and you can have a laugh about it as well. Trust me, this is a good idea.

It depends. If she's going to college, buy a huge box of pep pills or a load of coffee grounds. If she's going into the workforce, give her living gloves and hip waders.
