Zabasearch.com is even worse than Google.
I went to it, typed in my fathers name, and it correctly listed his current adress, and his old adress, along with year born. If you fork out 20 dollars, you can run a backround check ! If you click on the Click adress for photo thing once you put the name in, on the top of the page it says sattilite search, it shows an overhead map of you house/apartment. This teters on the edge of frighting.

Like I said, there are better pay sites.

Why do some people show up in these searches and others don't? I don't turn up on any of them... none of my family does... lol.

These guys must love the publicity they're getting here.

Ok, I'm only going say this once.

The companies which hold your private details can actually give or sell this information to another company. Your phone number, address and other information stored on millions of corporate computers can be traded like other information but they don't tell you about it.

How do you think those annoying telemarketters get this info? It's bad finding it on the Internet, but it's only a medium. You have NO privacy in reality.

I am glad to see my years of mendacity when filling in forms, marketing surveys &c. have paid off.

That site has virtually nothing correct about me.

So, what is the moral? Never tell the truth about your name, age, or address.

gotta love our socialist paradise here in Denmark. We have legislation which makes it illegal for anybody but the government to have databases with personal information. Companies are ofcourse still able to have files of their clients, but it is illegal to trade this information, and to collect other information than adresses; so no databases detailing what paper you subscribe to, what union, club, fraternity, or political party you are a part of etc.

Which means that it's only on the web that I have to spread disinformation about myself.

No, but I cannot stop them from gathering information on me. I trust them so far as not to resell that information to the private sector, though. And I know the information they have on me is share with the US "intelligence" services, but again, there is nothing I can do about that either :(

It's probably worse here in Austalia. :(
You should see the privacy disclaimers I have put up with when I give private information. My bank can provide all my private that info to it's subsidaries including their marketing arm.
