They're working overtime to keep that dominant spot in the market, huh. Wonder if there will be a mysterious conflict with Firefox next?

Actually, this seems to be legit. Netscape 8 won't even install if you don't have IE on Windows.

Not that I understand why anyone would like to use Netscape at all, when all it is is Firefox messed up.

Yeah, Netscape uses IE's engine to render some pages, so it can't install unless you've got IE. I like Firefox the best, too, but some people like Netscape's fancy toolbars, IE rendering ability, and of course it still has name recognition.

Firefox isn't all that great. I'm lucky if I can watch anything on it. I still use it though because:
1. It gives a big :upyours: Microsoft.
2. My IE is all messed up.

For all of you looking for an alternative web browser, I can recommend Opera

look for yourself http://www.opera.no/products/desktop/

I have been using Opera since 1997. Opera is a very nice client and the first to introduce features like tabs and SVG

It's also "free," meaning if you don't pay for it you get a nice, big ad built into your browser. Frankly, I don't think a browser is worth my time to circumvent this. But if Firefox doesn't work the way you'd like it to...and your IE is teh fuckt, then I'd understand you accepting Opera...me, there's no way in hell. Firefox all the way. :P

Well, if my Firefox magically stops working when I update IE, then, I'll know Microsoft put something in the IE build to force Firefox not to work. ;)

Firefox is the best browser and AOL is one of the worst ISPs so why would anyone use Netscape anyway?

Hell. Picking your nose and flinging it at the screen could cuase problems with IE. EVERYTHING causes problems with IE. No big surprise there.

It's certainly a fast one. But the Adblock extension alone, makes me choose FireFox over any other browser. Opera even display its own ads, if you don't pay for it (or crack it, like I have).

Adblock is a God send. I also use Greasemonkey to tweak web sites, I wish I could write my own scripts for it, though! That'd be awesome!
