What is your favorite Stephen King book?

My favorite book PERIOD is The Talisman. It's just perfect to me. I loved the Dark Tower books until the last chapter of the last book. Almost made me depressed for a month.

My top 5 favorites in order....

1) The Talisman
2) Dark Tower series
3) Desperation
4) It
5) The Long Walk (Written as Bachman)

My friend talked me into reading the Dark Tower series . . . I gotta say, the end was disappointing. I think King rushed the last two books, so the end of the series suffered accordingly (what happened to Eddie was @#$*@# bullshit!). That said, my favourite books of the series were the Gunslinger and The Drawing of the Three, though Wolves of the Calla was also pretty darn cool.

I know. Jake was always my favorite character, and I just knew King was gonna piss me off. Eddie was cool too. My favorite books in that series were The Gunslinger and The Wastelands. It took me four months to get through Wizard and Glass cause I found it boring. Yes, the last 2 books felt rushed and they got too weird even for King! Wolves of The Calla was freakin' awesome as well. Loved the detail in it.

I'd have to say that the Dark Tower series is his greatest masterpiece, but if I'd have to say one individual book I'd probably go with The Eyes of the Dragon.
The Noble Men

The Stand. Just sheer brilliance. Took a month to read, but it was worth it. Also got me interested in sociology. Don't know if that's good or not.

Probably The Stand. I really like the idea behind it, but I don't like the ending as much, where it becomes a battle between good & the devil.

The Stand.

By far, his best work.
Sadly, King has lost his talent to tell a decent story and has written little more than drivel in years.

Insomia...sucked, until page 400.
Bag of Bones....sucked in general.
Hearts in Atlantis....most worthless piece of crap written by King to date.

But make no mistake, King has defined horror fiction.

I've read all but two of his books. The Shining was probably my favorite, though they're so varied it's hard to compare. Salem's Lot was certainly the scariest. It and The Stand are of course epics, same with the Dark Tower series which I started readin almost 20 years ago. The Running Man is my favorite of the Bachman books (virtually no relation to the abominable movie).

It and the Stand are tied for me. I read It after seeing the movie when I was 10, and that got me scared and hooked :)

I've not read the last Dark Tower book yet, but I love the rest of the series. As for my favourite of his books, i'd say Needfull Things. I loved it, even though the film version was (as usual with King adaptations - ignoring The Green Mile and Shawshank) shit.

Steven King was required jr. high and high school reading for me. I required myself to read it during most classes I was in.
