Scalia. He's just so damn cute.

(And rather funny, if you've ever read his more jovial discussions with the lawyers/opinions). Can't stand his ideas though.

I am partial to Anthony Kennedy myself. He seems to vote the way I would in most cases. I actually respect him most.

He's one of the 2 swing votes in the court.

You can still add a poll by going to 'thread tools', then 'polls'

Justice Kirby (of the Australian supreme court) because I don't know any of the Americans.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm kinda absentminded when it comes to options. :)

I agree with Scalia because his rulings follow the law and not the other way around like some of the others. It's hard to dislike a judge that doesn't set him/her self up to be some sort of god like ruler who bends the laws to their own will.
Can't really comment on cute, although Ginsburg sends a chill down my spine! I think she was cast in the origonal Wizard of Oz, and is moonlighting on the side now.

What about John Marshall? Isn't the concept of judicial review important? Who cares about anyone else?

David Souter, because once he got on the court, he actually started listening to the merits of the cases that came before him. Bush I appointed him hoping he'd be a solid conservative member and Souter wound up being more liberal than conservative.

I think dead pretty much disqualifies him as a Supreme Court Justice, however, I may be mistaken. After all, he did pretty much carry the torch when allowing the Judicial Branch to circumvent the Constitution and impose the unconstitutional Judicial Review. Maybe he set himself up to be a Justice even after death?

Scalia follows the law to the point of absurdity. He doesn't believe in the evolution of societies. Originalists (Hugo Black, 1937-1971) object to busing because the word "bus" isn't in the Constitution. To him, objecting to "cruel and unusual" punishment doesn't mean that you object to executing juveniles and the retarded. It doesn't say it in the Constitution. He was the only dissenter in a decision making the Virginia Military Institute allow women. He said that the court is supposed to "preserve our society's values regarding (among other things) equal protection, not to revise them." Not to mention his anti-gay minority opinions.

And when there's a topic the Constitution doesn't deal with, he'll go by tradition instead of what's sensible and decent.

He also says the government gets its authority from God, which I find strange, because I thought it was from the people.

I misread the thread, didn't know it was current Justices. Really, i don't think anyone currently on the Court is that memorable.

Scalia for me too. He's the only Justice I'm aware of who openly supports the excecution of innocent people, so long as they've been duly convicted.
