Bush's Presidency and WH 40k

Sanctum Imperialis

I have been looking through the WH 40k books and I have found alot in common with Bush's Presidency.

Burn the Heretic - Mostly aganist gays.

Kill the Mutant - Not neccessairly mutants. But genetics like stem cell research and cloning.

Purge the Unclean - Anyone not American and or not a puppet government of the us.

The Age of Apostay is very similar to Bush's presidency. Goge Vandire took over as both Head of the Ecclesiarch and the High Lord of the Adminstratum. He sent the Imperium into a bloody internal war. He was eventually killed.

Now lets compare this to Bush. Bush is trying to pass laws like the Patriot Act. And to give himself more power by stepping outside the bonds of Congress to do what he wants. He is a right wing conservative who claims to have had a dream of god. And he has plunged the Earth into yet more war and bloodshed has he tried to gain more power for himself. The FBI will get more power and the Secret Service ( The new SS ) will soon probably as well in the name of the "presidents protection".

Warhammer 40k is damaged by this comparison since it is much better than Bush. But I was bored so nyah.

Tenuous. Very, very tenuous. In fact, I'd go so far as to say wholly absurd.

Much as I dislike Bush, I'm going to have to agree with this.

Damn straight. Go study History, discover that Sigmar (of Warhammer Fantasy) is ripped off from Charlemange, king of some guy named Frank (I think), founder of the Holy Roman Empire (later Austria-Hungary) and remember that The Emperor is a rip-off of said Sigmar.

A rip-off of a rip-off then. Sweet.

No. This is obviously congealed genius. Next up - conclusive proof that Tau represent Space-Llamas with Halitosis.

I'm bored too, so..

Congress passes laws.

He is a right wing conservative who claims to have had a dream of god.

Since when? Bush has never claimed to have had a vision or dream of God. I really don't know where you got that one.

Actually, George Bush is a wimpy conservative. The Diet Coke of conservative, if you will. Remember "compassionate conservatism"? A president that eager to compromise his beliefs wouldn't survive in the 40k universe. Actually, people like Michael Moore would fit in far better with the dysfunctional, dogmatic, philistine far future . . . Maybe Games Workshop is actually giving us a parable about what will happen when liberals rule the world?

Sigh. I've obviously spent way more time on 40k than can possibly be healthy. I'll give up the hobby after I crush my friend's Necrons one more time, I swear ...

Note: I'm just kidding about the liberals ruling the world bit; I'm sure it'll be much, much worse =P

No... he really, really isn't. Not by Western standards. Maybe he is worldwide, but worldwide includes many states where politicians don't follow ideologies so much as their own interests. The Cult of the Constitution he's built up, as if it were actual Scripture, is hilarious. He wants Americans to regard it almost as a sacred document, apart from the parts he disagrees with - if he thinks it's wrong he'll happily change his Scripture. What the Shrub says is "The country doesn't need to change, and if it looks as if our Word supports change, I'll change it to make sure it doesn't."

What's compassionate about his conservatism? I'm not gonna come out with some old shit - "what's compassionate about any conservatism?" - but seriously, what has the Shrub done that has been compassionate? He's a War President, he's made that so, and compassion is not on the menu.

Interesting. Care for a little debate?

Could you elaborate on this, please? What does George Bush not like about the Constitution?

On another topic, maybe you remember when he said "When someone hurts, government has got to move." In contrast, his predecessors have said things like:

"Government isn't the solution to the problem; government IS the problem." (Ronald Reagan)

"It is much more important to kill bad bills than pass good ones." (Calvin Coolidge)

How about the ridiculous deficit that's happening largely because Bush either doesn't have the guts (a thing I find hard to believe) or the inclination to rein in Congress' record spending? $400 billion Medicare bill, anyone?

What do you think about Bush's illegal-immigrant amnesty/"guest-worker" program? I haven't seen a single conservative who's at all happy with the plan. It seems like something that's right up the proverbial Democratic alley.
