cafetopia, sorry but DCR is right, the whole concept of communism is very good but it will never happen. We evolved through survival of the fittest, and this basic instinct to succeed is what renders communism only a dream.

Well, it may sound kinda ironic, but the advent of nanotechnology (specifically: the universal replicator) may very well mean the end of capitalism as we know it. I mean, if you can produce anything, what to trade with other than pure information? :)

It works pretty well on a very small scale (communes...Kabbutzim (sp?) in Israel), but if someone doesn't work, then they just get kicked out. Why can't we do that in full sized countries? "Sorry, this just isn't working out. It's not you...it's me. I'm just going through a selfish phase right now."

My rogue doesn't take full damage -- he's got Improved Evasion and Uncanny Dodge. Half damage on a failed save. That's assuming it was a Reflex save, however. Make it a Will save and my little guy is likely toast.
