You wonder why people who are against more guncontrol are fighting it so hard. It's a very slippery slope that we go down and with each each little victory that gun control people win you get that much closer to what's happening in this news report.

I'm waiting for the time when individual bricks have to be licensed because it's possible that someone could walk out and brain somebody else with one.

Go ahead and laugh, but in a few years someone will start marketing a saftey knife that can't cut people. Soon after people will start suing restaurants because they didn't provide safety knives and they accidently stabbed themselves in the chest. After a few billion dollar payouts, the U.S. ends up with less normal kitchen knives that the U.K. due to fear of litigation.

We should just make buildings out of foam lego bricks.
And cover everything else in cotton wool.

Are you talking about the ones with holes in them? I could never figure that out.

Oh yeah. I've never tried them, but I had a Chinese rip off I bought for 100 yen. Stamped steel, and quite good for the price.

When owning a slingshot is illegal, only criminals will own slingshots.
Next we should outlaw water! Over 1,000 people have drowned in water before! We must get rid of it!
For that matter, we must outlaw children, too. That will prevent child abuse, pedophilia, child murderers, bullies, child drownings, child accidental gun deaths, and childcare! Outlaw everything for its own sake! :D

Maybe some of those hammer-headed ant-gun zealots will adopt the knife issue. Let them argue why "knife locks" should be mandatory and that competency training for kitchen knives will make the world safer.

I see we all read that recomendation carefully then.
Doctors have pointed out that a great many stabbings are with pointy kitchen knives. Chefs say that pointy knives are not necessary in the home kitchen.
Yes criminals will always find pointy things to stab people with but at least kids won't be able to grab a steak knife to take to school.
In this country it's illegal for kids to buy, own or carry knives or craft knives.
This is designed to stop them taking mummies knives out.
It's highly unlikely to become law but if it does how does it exactly affact you lot then?
No more shopping trips from the states to London on knife buying binges?
No more pinning the chicken to the table before you cook it?
or are you just bleating about the potential lost liberty to own something you don't need?

Well, they can have my nice Heinckel's when they pry my cold dead fingers off the handles. But to those who are genuinely concerned I suggest the following: go to your knife drawer and grind the tips off all your knives. Blunt the edges too, they could cut someone.
