This lady tied up the emergency response 911 system and wasted the dispatcher and police's time over the fact that a pizza restaurant wouldn't deliver to her. I hope she faces some severe fines and some jail time.

She's old enough to know better. If she's suffering from dementia then she shouldn't be left unsupervised.

shouldn't but, from the looks of it, is. then again it said nothing about mental illness in the report.
i think jail time is a little harsh for a frail 86 year old woman. maybe they should just disconnect her phone;)

A month of jail time. That's not too much to ask. Let her live among prostitutes, drug addicts, drug dealers, and theives for a month so she knows that pizza deleivery isn't exactly an emergency.

thats exactly why i think its harsh. most old people i've ever met would more than freak out at that and just wouldn't be able to cope... hence, its harsh. its a kick up the arse too far (hehehe eww)

maybe old people in the US are not as gentile and frail as those generally round the UK. she seemed pretty aggressive and malicious in the story - maybe she could cope with it after all.

This sounds like it will be one of them.

I've heard reports in the past of people calling 911 to get traffic conditions. People in general are morons.

That's why babies have been striking back, attacking the elderly by jumping from trees and crevases. (Un)Fortunately, they don't cause much harm, considering their bones haven't fully hardened, and muscles aren't completely developed. If they had teeth...whoo-boy! Look out, grandma!

Them kids nowadays...

What if someone was trying to call 911 to report a fire in a hospital maternity ward? By the time they got through to the dispatchers there woudl be nothing left but burning babies. She could have been responsible for numerous flaming infants.

I'm willing to bet that the officer she attacked and bit wont press any charges.
She needs to be evaluated if she is living alone. It sounds like she might be entering the sad world of dimensia.

aw, all this talk of jail time and fines. That's just cruel. The kind thing to do would be to put it down. A little anesthetic, quick lethal injection - problem solved :)

The infants would have been fine. They'd have lept from the windows--high story even--and landed on their feet. (What? Didn't you know they do that?) Their skin is also made of asbestos, so fire isn't a big deal.

It's the mothers that I'm worried about...

And the nurses...

*tsktsk* What a shame.

Don't you remember that Old People eat babies? It's obvious that if this were to occur, she was the one distracting and holding up the lines, while the other old people waited for their BBQ'd babies to get done.

Good point. Those old people are devious. Perhaps the restaurant wouldn't deliver the pizza because she ordered babies as a topping.

Not to mention free up a lot more on the roads and highways. A lot less traffic due to the gotta-go-twenty-miles-slower-than-the-speed-limit elderly.

I'm in support. *grin*

I agree also. I don't know that jailing her is the correct response. Sure what she did was wrong but putting her in jail would be a waste of time when a real criminal could have her spot.

Also if she is experiencing dementia, please everyone remember that it could happen to you one day. Perfect health is guaranteed to no one.

True story: My (distant distant) uncle from Tenessee attempted at ordering a "steak basket with mashed taters" at a Wienerschnitzel (hot dog stand). Apparently, he thought that Germans made good steak...

Needless to say, that was his one and only visit to our family.

(And thank God that I didn't inherit anything hereditary that he got.)

I used to know this old lady that lived in a very, very small community in the mtns. She was so ornery and hateful that people got tired of helping her all the time and she ran off everybody that was paid to help her.

She would call the volunteer fire department in the middle of the night sometimes and they would go to her house and fix her cornbread and milk.

LOL!

After football/basketball games as freshmen in high school... after road (away) games we'd of course go to McDonald's or Burger King and get something to eat.

If it was McDonald's, we'd order Whoppers with cheese.

If it was Burger King, we'd order Big Macs.
