What is love?
Well ive been in a relationship for more than 2 years recently, but I still cant say.
Wasnt there a sensible distiction in ancient greek between passionate/erotical love, something more like friendship and something else I cannot recall right now?
So how would you define love?

Love is a constant fear. Fear that you will lose them. Then again, I could be nuts.

The greeks had three kinds of love:
Ero: physical love.
Philia: Brotherly love.
Agape: Unconditional love.

Love I suppose could be compared to an addiction of sorts. Where you feel physically and mentally compelled to be with a person, and suffer strong withdrawals when you are away from that person. In the sense of brain chemistry, love literally does have a certain "high" attached to it (believe it or not, the chemicals are similar to chocolate.) :p
To sum that up, love is when you feel a sense of wellbeing when you are with a person, a feeling that over rides anything that would make you wrong a person, and a feeling that you will suffer for if you lose it.
(At least that is how I would explain it in two pathetically short paragraphs.) :D

Ask the Greeks.
Love is a constant fear. Fear that you will lose them. Then again, I could be nuts.
I wouldn't necessarily say a fear of losing them, but certainly very much a feeling that to lose them would be the most terrible thing to happen to you. I would add to this also a feeling that something is somehow missing when you are apart from them, that life can only be wholly complete when they are there as well.

At the risk of sounding kind of circular in my logic, Love is what you think it is.

There are, as whoever said, many types of love though... unconditional/brotherly love, and... well, I'm not going to regurgitate the forum. Romantic love is not a good thing to happen to you, though... the way you put it makes it sound like an affliction, and you may be right.

An annoying song by Haddaway?
No it isn't! Haddaway didn't do a song called Love. He did one called 'What is Love?' but the question would have had to be "What is What is Love?" for your answeer to have made any sense :P
And it's a brilliant song.
Baby don't hurt me..
Don't hurt me...
No more.

:headbang: Love is real , real is love
Love is feeling , feeling love
Love is wanting to be loved
Love is touch, touch is love
Love is reaching, reaching love
Love is asking to be loved
Love is you
You and me
Love is knowing
we can be
Love is free, free is love
Love is living, living love
Love is needed to be loved

Love is sacrifice. It is selflessness. Love and selfishness cannot exist in the same moment. True love is the desire to make the other person happy no matter the cost.
Chemical brain reactions are mostly from the physical part of love, love is deeper than that because eventually the physical will dim, but the love doesn't.

Love is not an emotion, what one feels when one is "in love," whether romantic or friendship/platonic. Love is what inspires those feelings. It is the union of two (or more) people through a psychological bond that puts them of one mind. They go from being "me and you" to being "us."
